This is a great product, because after 3.5 years, it still works like it should. The size is right for me, it's quality-made, and I use it everyday. I highly recommend it, and in this day & age, to find a product that is reliable after a number of years of every day use, deserves a 5 star rating.

I have been using an electric hot water pot for about 20 years. The few I have owned over the years were all plastic construction with a simple temp adjustment and a hot pad set in the bottom of the pot. These worked well enough but decided to purchase one that looked a bit nicer in our kitchen. As it is just me using it I wanted a smaller one and this 1.2 L Courant fits the bill really well. I read a lot of reviews and decided not many people had bad things to say about this model and seemed to be better rated than most. It heats pretty quickly but maybe not as fast as the ones I have used in the past. The added features of this unit are what makes it better than those previously owned. The cordless design is nice as is the auto shutoff when the water boils. I have only had it a week or two and it has worked flawlessly so far. I have come to realize that while the older units had a temp control on them, truth be told, I just want the water boiled as soon as possible for my morning tea. This unit has proven to be a great purchase so far.

Edit: After less than two years' gentle use, our kettle is kaput. I'm seriously disappointed, as it's been great (see below)... until it simply quit working. Am considering a stovetop model, as the switch mechanism seems to be the weak link in these kettles.***We have used electric countertop kettles for many years and got this Courant one to replace an Aroma kettle that we used to death. Now that we've used it for several months, we find that we like the Courant's 1.2 L size (the Aroma we had before held 1.5 L and was quite heavy and hard to pour from when full). We also like the on/off switch location on top of the lid. The switch is easy to reach without touching the hot side of the kettle, and also is a sturdier construction than our old kettle. Yes, the white on/off marking on the switch did rub off in the first week we had it, but it's simple to figure out which way to push the switch to turn it on, so not a problem for us. We also like the auto-shutoff feature, which wore out on our old kettle. So far, so good with this one. We have no complaints.
