Bought one for my 2015 Jeep Patriot and it was a direct bolt on. Took no time at all. The only thing required was to trim the black plastic where the hitch needs to go.Bought another one for my 2016 Jeep Patriot 75th Anniversary Edition. I will update this review if anything goes wrong, but overall I am happy with it.It's built super strongly, which doesn't really matter as the Patriot cannot tow anyway. I use it for carrying my two eBikes, as well as using for a recovery point in the winter. I also used it recently to tow my Jeep onto a roll back tow truck. You know, just Jeep things..

Installed on a 2015(?) Jeep Compass. Followed an instruction video from U-haul. Is a bit of a bear to install by yourself, as you need good upper body strength and several extra arms and hands would be helpful too! A bit difficult to get positioned behind the fascia and above the crosswise muffler, and get the bolts lined up, all at the same time. Did by myself, lying on my back under the vehicle. I have done much more fun things in my life than this. Other than tricky to hold up above your head in just the right spot, it fits well. I found it easier to get it in to position when I cut the hole in the fascia first, not after installing the front bolts like they recommend. Took me about 2 hours by myself, would be quicker with help. You need to unbolt the charcoal canister on the driver's side to access the bolt holes. Also, the 4 mounting bolts (nice looking hardware included, appears to be grade 8) have to be torqued to 110 ft lbs. The hitch is about 1/4" narrower than the frame, so it takes a fair bit of cranking to get it to fit tight against the rails (1/8" of play either side has to be cranked up snug to the frame).

My wife said that after she saw this hitch receiver being delivered by the mail lady. Looked strong enough to be used on a dually. This is one heavy duty unit! Honestly!! This thing is built stronger than the chassis it’s mounted to. I’m very impressed with the fit and function of the hitch itself and it looks like a factory option nestled between the exhaust and lower bumper fascia. You can only see a couple of inches of the receiver and none of the heavy walled, heavy duty tubing this is made of. This was actually a snap to install although I did have to lower the exhaust from the hangers and trim a small section of plastic to make it fit properly. Watch a YouTube video on the installation and all of this was anticipated. It was a small insignificant cut. I would suspect that even if you were to remove the receiver, you’d not notice the trimming unless you were under the car or really, REALLY short. We got this (not to tow), but to install a rack and a bike carrier on occasion. I will say that the rack is A BIT too low with this receiver. Not the receiver’s fault but rather the design of the Jeep it’s being attached to. After adding an offset double hitch, (available on here and at Harbor Freight for about $20), raises the rack to a better height that doesn’t block the hot exhaust gases and still allows the hatch to be raised and lowered even with a weatherproof bag on the back. This came in quite handy for the trip to Florida. Everything rode like a champ there and back. I will probably throw a chair cushion on there for ECU football tailgating in a few months and relax in style before the games. A month ago, we used this hitch to pull a Trailblazer out of the mud. No issues.

NO es clase 3 cómo lo dice ahí en la caja dice otra cosa. De ahí en fuera muy fácil de poner aunque tienes que cortar un poco pero no se nota

My Hitch arrived in a very damaged box as its not very well padded/secured within the box and its only a single cardboard box. No harm done as the hitch itself was in great condition. A lot of people in the reviews argue about dropping the exhaust vs taking the bumper off. For me I am in the camp of taking the bumper off. I attempted to lower the exhaust but the lowest I could get it without seriously stressing the middle exhaust holder wasnt low enough to easily slide this in even with two people. In the end I decided to take the bumper off and things were MUCH easier after that. The most nerve wracking part was cutting the bumper but I was super happy I got it right in the first cut.I opted to install the CURT 56129 for my Jeep Compass also and it slotted in perfectly. Having the bumper off meant it was really easy to run the cables from each tail light across the car. Finally I also added in the Pro Series 63153 Rambler Hitch cargo and the ROLA 20174 light kit. The lights are great but I wish there was a neater way to run the cables along the frame. Because one light is on a much shorter cable than the other light it makes the wiring a little messy but its functional and cheap!Overall this took a couple of hours to complete and I am really happy with the results!
