These are pretty and affordable, but they are not a real six holed ocarina. A real one has different sized holes on the front and these do not. They do play "notes", and you could hypothetically learn how to play on one, but they are very out of tune. Apparently these are just for "decoration"which I was not aware of.

I have played each of these at length and am quite surprised at the sound. They will not accommodate a standard scale with English ocarina fingerings, as Re and Fa need to be half holed. From Sol on up there are an additional 5 steps, so the natural scale, without half holing, is Do, Mi, Sol, La, Ti, do and re. The voice is quite nice and the painting is merely stenciled, but well done. If you are looking for an authentic Incan ocarina, this would quite suffice, at a very modest price. The boxing is secure, but allows little bits of foam shards to get into the holes, but a good blow will clear them out. A truly gorgeous little folk instrument!

Painting is beautiful on all of these, and the sound is good.
