This starter motor was much cheaper vs local retailers. The unit came well-packaged and had all the needed hardware. After installing the LR2 started right up with no issues. The unit is well-built and installs pretty quickly. Would recommend searching for a 4 min video online that gives helpful hints to replacing the dead LR2 starter (the top bolt that attaches the unit to the engine is the hardest step as it’s difficult to see from underneath the vehicle).

The starter will not kick in probably due to faulty solenoidI contacted the vendor and did not receive a reply

This is the starter you need for your Land Rover LR2/Freelander 2 with the inline 6.I thought the sluggish performance of my LR2's starter was caused by a weak battery. When the factory starter finally died one day, I worried that I'd be spending $$$$ to fix it. The DB Electrical starter looks to be of high build quality equal to the factory unit it replaced. It installed easily onto my LR2 with no effort other than disconnecting the battery, removing the underbelly pan and removing the two bolts and two wires that attach the starter. Basic tools and skills are all that's needed to do this job as the starter is literally right there in your face once you remove the underbelly pan. Believe the reviews that mention the job taking less than an hour.The starter from DB Electrical is working like a charm. My LR2 now starts quickly and easily and I couldn't be happier. Even if it doesn't last a full thirteen years like the original, at this price I can install two more and still come out ahead.
