This model has excellent prototypical details. I am a HO scale trains prototype modeler who specializes in Maintenance of Way (MoW) modeling, so this was a great addition to my MoW equipment collection. It fits in with my current era BNSF railroad operations layout. The excavator was introduced by Caterpillar (CAT) in the United States in 2017 after its Europe market debut. It was first introduced in Europe to compete with several other competitor offerings before CAT entered the market. Shortline railroads are the target customer sales market, but the major US railroads have also shown interest in the new multi-tool excavator for quick track repair projects. The first photo is of a real M323F at a Munich trade show the year it was first sold in the Europe (2016). The second picture is a prototype M323F using the wide bucket attachment. The wide bucket exchangeable attachment in real life M323F's is also painted CAT yellow and not black, but that is an easy fix since the model's attachment is removable for the bucket paint change and detailing (if you chose to leave the bucket black, it should be flat or satin black and not gloss black.) I like the model with no operator inside. An operator is usually easy to add if desired, but not so easy to take out of a sealed HO scale model cab. All in all for the price, a nice replica of the real thing with quality metal railroad track wheels. It is not motorized, so it is a static display model (which is OK with me for my intended use on my layout's MoW diorama siding area.)
