Needed a power block that had a on/off switch for Diecast Model Case with LED light. Bought these battery operated power block with USB connections. I just added a wood bracket to hold the battery unit. Worked out great.

These units (4 in this kit) convert 4 AA batteries (per unit) into one "USB charger" (that can be used to power/charge your USB powered devices). I don't expect to do this a lot (since I don't like to waste a lot of disposable batteries) but I consider it a nice backup option to have during long "power outages" (or anytime my USB devices are away from a power source).Yes, these devices do require you to have extra AA flashlight batteries to make them work. However, since I've been buying my AA batteries in bulk for years (to keep the cost per battery down), I almost always have a number of "spare" (not yet used) AA batteries around the house. So using those extra AA batteries as a "backup USB charger" seemed sensible to me. And I have already tested using this "charger" around the house, and it worked with my USB powered lights, my USB powered fans, as well as our cell phones (but the cell phones did show it as a "slow charge").NOTE: These "chargers" only work with USB devices that expect the older 5 volt USB power standard, not the higher voltage that some USB-C devices expect. So while these "chargers" will work with most of the USB powered devices I own, it does not work with our 2 laptops (which each require the higher USB-C voltage to power them). Of course, the laptops will continue to run (under their own power) until their rechargeable battery uses up it's stored power.
