We bought a house recently and noticed that the previous owners bought the wrong handles for our 4028 American Standard toilets. It took me forever to figure out why the toilets acted up whenever the lids sat fully down. The lids had to be raised slightly in order to get a proper functioning toilet. Then I finally took the time to realize it was the incompatable handles!As you can see from my photos, one is with the old handles. The old handles hit the lid, making it so the handle could not fully raise upward into the proper position.So I looked for handles that were compatible with the 4028 toilet tank. This is thr handle that was recommended. It fits perfectly, and now the lid can sit completely flat on it without touching the handle at all.Overall, just be careful to make sure your handle is designed for your toilet tank. The previous owners failed to do that, so we had to do it. Now all 3 toilets work great! No more running toilets!

I could not find this in the home improvement stores and am extremely happy with the price and look of the lever, which was immediately installed and matches the other polished brass fixtures in the new bathroom.
