I plumped for these as they were at a very competitive price - £23. Glad I did. I have a 2014 Mexican Deluxe Precision with active eq (in sea foam green) and it gives me a ton of tones for everything from Jazz and Blues to Death Metal. Helped by these strings for their superb clarity and definition. Best strings I’ve ever had on that bass. The last set I had on it were D’Addario Chromes, nice strings, not as good as these though. I don’t notice the clear coating on the strings at all.

These really are great strings. The coating is literally unnoticeable, and they respond to being slapped even better than boomers on my medium scale.

Recently modified my bass (Fender Squire Vintage Jaguar Combo) with a switch for the pickups, a fender high mass Bridge and a set of these strings. Let my local woman guitar magician work her magic on it all after. Now my baby SINGS with awhole bunch of new tonal qualities! It is also easier to play funky slap Bass with!

I love these strings and when I've tested out other strings from DR or other brands I've always found myself longing for my Bootzillas.These strings are exceptionally bright before you break them in. They still have a great zing once they're broken in, but at first you may find it overpowering. Breaking them in doesn't take long.If you play slap, you want to try these. I play mostly finger style, but slap and use a pick occasionally. I'm happy with them for all styles.A set normally lasts me over 6 months. I normally gig 1-6 times a month, but there have been some stretches where I was playing a set 4-8 times a month. They've always held up well for me...and I've been known to really rip at my strings during high energy performances.
