What a fun and fabulous game! You can play two people or better with 3 or 4. Very competitive with many opportunities to negotiate gems. We play often-recommend this game for those who enjoy spirited interaction

I got this game mostly on the strength of the gems/gold pieces as my girlfriend very much wanted more games to play where you can collect gems. In the game we've played of it so far we opted for the alternate rule to the bargaining mechanic (instead we used a system where the least contributing member of the kill divides the loot and then the most contributing player gets to have first pick of the choices, with pics proceeding in descending order) - this made for a fun and interesting play experience.I'd like to try with the standard play mode, but I definitely recommend trying it this way too.

Absolutely love the game, but in this version (the one with the gems instead if the wooden disc for treasures) it is very difficult to tell the difference between gold & silver. That's kind of a big deal when you need to know what you're negotiating for.I ended up re-painting mine, which you absolutely should not have to do to enjoy a game

We love games at our house. This one was a little bit different and has been very enjoyable. The game highlights planning, trading, and excitement of having to make decisions quickly - you have to agree with the people you are dividing loot with within 1 minute or none for everyone!Lots of fun. We've gifted another copy to friends

I played this with three good friends. First is a guy with a long, long history of playing RPG and tabletop games. I also played with a friend who's just a casual hobbyist and prefers simple games. Also, there's my wife and I, both of us somewhere in between - we like a good game of Arkham Horror, but we're also down for Munchkin or even simpler games like Love Letter. All four of us greatly enjoyed the gameplay, in part because of the simplicity of the game's premise - basically, you kill dragons and divide up the treasure. It's in the negotiation that it gets tricky. Yes, that's right, there's no mechanic for how you divide up treasure, you have to talk it out among the various players who joined in to slay the dragon. With our group of friends, negotiations were rarely tense, and most of us had a clear idea of what we wanted, but it still made for a more interesting game. Additionally, two of the adventurer cards (the thief and the wizard) can enable you to get a bit more treasure than the other players, either by scooping up the magic items before negotiation begins (the wizard) or stealing a treasure after negotiations are over (the thief).Scoring was close, with less than 10 points between first and last place, which is, to my mind, a sign of a good game with good replayability. So, why three points? The game's tokens - gold pieces, silver pieces, magic items and gems - aren't particularly suitable to gameplay. The gold and silver pieces are both metallic paint, and are so close in colour that they're extremely difficult to tell apart under some light conditions. We spent more time debating whether a piece than we did negotiating for the treasure in some cases. Additionally the gems are all clear coloured plastic, which makes them difficult to use for people who have trouble with colour. Not an issue for our group, but might be for yours. If I could give the game 3 and a half stars, I would because it really is a fun game, apart from those rather serious flaws. I did some research and found that previous editions use painted wooden counters instead of the hard-to-read plastic ones - since the game actually took a step back in quality, it loses that half star.
