I also have the black Dreo Polyfan 306, so I can give contrasting photos and compare the models. This unit (PolyFan 508S) is fancier and lists at twice the price. Notably it has more power levels (1-9 and "Hi", vs. just 1-3) where the "Hi" level is noticeably stronger than what the 306 can do, and you can also get more variety of lower speeds. The 306 can only face level or point upwards, while this unit can point downwards (might be useful if you're working on something on the floor?) and it can vertically oscillate automatically vs. only manual pointing upward. There's a light ring on the back face of the fan...which is good as a nightlight if you want to use it for that, and it can be on even if the fan is off.But the biggest difference is that this is a "smart" fan. Besides the included remote, you can use your phone as a remote too (if you're willing to give Dreo your WiFi password, which is required). The app also can set schedules to turn the fan on or off at arbitrary clock times, vs. the limited feature on the 306 for turning off after 1-3 hours have passed. It can also integrate with things like Alexa or Google Home--if you want to be able to tell your phone "hey Google, turn on air circulator". (The voice features are via your phone, there's no microphone in the fan.) You don't have to be anywhere near the fan to control it with the Dreo app, so long as it is plugged in and connected to WiFi.It's easy to assemble and the build quality is good, although the "Starlight" plastic seems more likely to scratch than the plain black plastic of the 306. I'm glad it offers on-device controls vs. only being controllable with a remote, but if I have any complaint it would be that they are "touch-sensitive" vs. being physical buttons, and you sometimes have to push your finger against it several times before it registers. (The 306 has three solid reliable buttons on a protrusion behind the fan blades.) The plug is also chunkier on this unit vs. a simple 2-prong.Anyway, this is a great fan if you think you'll use the features--and still a great fan even if you don't. You can't really go wrong...though if I hadn't been given this unit to review and were paying with my money, I would probably get the 306, because I haven't really invested in a "smart home ecosystem". So having one such device is more novelty than necessity, though the execution is quite good if that is your interest. Main benefit to *me* would be that it's a little stronger on its highest setting, but I'd likely not pay twice as much for that plus a light. But if I had, I'd not be that upset...it's a very cool fan!

I use a fan nearly 24/7 365 days a year in metro phoenix. We might have a few weeks in January where it isn't needed for that added bit of comfort. I go through a lot of fans. I can't speak yet to the longevity of this fan, but its been a long time since a fan 'wow'd' me. The motor is so quiet. The breeze is so nice and has a lot of levels. Understand the overall experience of the fan is NOT silent. Air makes noise when it moves, especially through the blades and housing. That's physics and not something that can be eliminated, only minimized. But comparatively, the fan is the quietest I've owned. I'm hoping for many years with this fan.

I had been checking out a few different of the smart Stan fans and I really wanted to stick with DREO since I have a couple other there products and the app connects easily with Alexa and I can control everything easily. I was not aware that this fan did not only oscillate left and right, but also up and down Which really circulates the air. I had listened to the description and I know I heard it, but I didn’t quite process what it was saying. But let’s start at the beginning. When the box came in, I opened it up and began putting the base together. It was very easy to put together. You didn’t have to clamp on the blades like you do a lot of fans and then the cover. And as a blind guy, I really appreciate How easy it was to put together. As soon as I open the DREO app plugged in the fan it automatically recognized it another plus in my book. I went through the app, listening to all of the modes on the fan, which was very straightforward And again as a blind guy it makes my life much easier. I will say while the DREO app is easy to use the Alexa app was much easier for this particular fan. So, I set the oscillation to pretty much go in a circular motion Turn that fan on high and I’m gonna tell you this puts out more air from a fan this size than I have ever had any other fans do before. It’s very quiet even on the high speed it’s not overwhelmingly loud. With my particular vision loss I can’t really tell the lights, but my daughter said it adds something to it. I will try it in the dark and see if I can see the lights eventually to keep me from running into the fan, which is a problem I do have. All in all if all that was too long, you don’t want to read. Here’s the bottom line. This fan is extremely nice. The base is very heavy. The app is easy to use connects easily with your echo devices, and this may be in fact, this is the best stand fan I have ever had in my life!
