The only reason I ordered this was because it was LISTED as a complete Reel no just a spool.

I like my Echo Ion 6wt reel quite a bit, but now that I know I can get extra spools for it cheap and easy, I like it even more. This spool I bought for a full sinking line. The other spool I have for this reel has a one-handed spey setup on it. I am going to buy one more spool for a regular floating fly line and my 6wt Echo rod & reel will be able to do anything I need it to do

I like the easy of adjustment with this reel and the lightness of it for balance. Light aluminum will always cause problems if you are not gentle with the reel. I have several sizes and several duplicates (whole family fishes). These are my go to reels for skagit

This is infuriating. This shouldn't be advertised as a reel. I now have a spool. What am I going to do with just a spool? I can't seem to find the drag knob anywhere online either. Don't waste your time if you are looking for a reel.

I am probably the only one who did this but when I first went to swap in the new spool I thought I had to unscrew the cap all the way. I was ready to just scrap both of them and get something else but turns out you don't need to unscrew it. Just loosen it until the spool slides off.... whew. Was just imagining the cap and the little o-ring dropping in the river.I ordered the one marked '8/9' assuming it was meant for the ION reel marked '8/10' which it was.Cabelas has the '8/10' on sale for 79$ right now.... but no spools.
