i opted for an open-box pair of UB52’s and i have no complaints. honestly, i don’t think they’d ever been hooked up prior to me receiving them.THESE SPEAKERS HAVE A DRAMATIC BREAK IN PERIOD! please allow 40-50 hours of listening before drawing any conclusions.

I ended up preferring the Jbl Studio 530’s.

I had what I thought were pretty good speakers before the UB52's arrived. The UB52's deliver a great stereo image with excellent separation between tones of the various orchestral instruments. They also provide excellent renditions both male and female vocalists. Further, they are capable of filling a fairly large space with sound despite their small size. I have tried them with and without a sub and found that the sub is not required, but it does provide some enhancement. I am using a NAD T752, which provides around 120 RMS watts per channel with a 6 ohm load, in stereo mode.

I bought these speakers to replace Bose 301 v series speakers. Those speakers are good but lack focus. The ELACs arrived this week after a few months of waiting here in Japan (first shipment was lost somehow). I couldn't wait to set them up. I was surprised as to how small they are considering all the hype I read and researched about them but when I set them up on my Sony STRDH590 and configured the settings I was TOTALLY blown away by the rich, immerse sound, deep bass and precision with these speakers straight out of the box. I can hear details of music that I didn't know I was missing from my 301's. Can't wait to break them in & will provide a follow up review in a couple weeks with pics. great job Mr. Jones!

For the size of the speakers I'm super impressed with the lows. Very good sounding speakers and super impressive. Highly recommend.
