I have a 24/40 250ml separation funnel that I use for bigger projects, however I needed a smaller sep funnel for smaller runs. This 125ml was a good choice for me, and grabbed it.Now, the one and ONLY thing I didn't like about this sep funnel was how it came packaged. It was literally wrapped in bubble wrap and shipped in a bubble wrap mailing envelope. Fearing potential disaster, I opened the package, working through the layers of bubble wrap, only to discover to my relief that it was, in fact, fully in tact.Whew. Bubble wrap, guys? This belongs in a box surrounded by HDPE foam. Yes, it arrived unbroken. But I have no idea how.Anyway...that was my sole complaint and I had to get it off my chest. Moving on to the funnel itself, I did a visual inspection and saw no visible flaws in the glass or petcock valve (which requires assembly) save for a tiny little flake of "teflon flashing" in the valve passageway. I would poke it out with a needle and move on.The glassware is labeled "Titan", and is quite well made. The petcock valve is solid Teflon, and must be installed. First, the black O-ring is slid to the groove, and the valve is installed in hole in the funnel. It will only go 1 way, being tapered. Then there is a keyed washer that must be installed, followed by the locking nut (which is plastic). There is no need to over-tighten this, as the finely matching taper provides the actual seal, and you don't want to break the glass opening and closing the valve. Just tight enough to provide a little friction is all that's required. The first thing any chemist, hobbyist or professional, will want to do with a separation funnel is make sure it doesn't leak by the valve when it's closed, which would indicate a flaw or defect in either the glassware or the valve, or both. The best liquid to use would probably be methanol alcohol (the molecule of Isopropyl is too large which actually makes it more viscous than water), but I didn't have any methanol on hand, so I went with plain old water. I filled it with RO water until nearly full, and used my lungs to put a little pressure on it. Zero leaks when closed, and steady flow when open, with good throttling in between.Perfect.So the funnel and valve worked perfectly and performed exactly as expected, and I can now safely integrate this with my lab. Top marks. The last thing I want to touch on, is the little 'golden treasure' that came with this funnel. By that I mean the Teflon stopper that came with this funnel. Most of you that have laboratory glassware will have stoppers for your particular setup (mine is all 24/40). The vast majority of those stoppers are glass that is finely ground to match the taper of the glassware. And they work quite well, generally, only occasionally getting stuck (sigh). The stopper that came with this is the most delightful solid Teflon stopper that fits wonderfully and creates a fantastic seal, without ever seeming like it's going to get stuck. It's better than any of my glass stoppers, and I'd like to know if you guys sell these separately. I would be interested in purchasing some of them. It's like the little golden treasure in with the similarly perfectly performing piece of glassware. And now I want more of them.In short, this separation funnel is just perfect in every way I can think of. And the Teflon stopper is even BETTER. I give this entire setup a solid 5 of 5 stars. Guys, please start shipping these in boxes.

This separatory funnel is truly excellent. The glass is flawlessly smooth and very thick, making it highly durable. The heavy PTFE stopper and stopcock are also impressive, boasting a wonderful surface finish. Overall, I confidently rate this product with five stars. If you're engaged in essential oil extraction, it proves to be an outstanding choice, and its small volume ensures minimal product wastage. The packaging was decent, although a slightly better packaging could have been preferred. However, in the rare event of receiving a broken item, requesting a replacement is always an option. Five stars.
