The monitor brightness is really good, even in strong sunlight it holds up to its promise. However, I do question the features, the zebras dont match what the camera shows same as the camera. The focus assist is not working or hard to see, and there is no good manual tutorial for this monitor. However, you get what you pay for I guess, so being at the price point as it is, what you get i think is probably value for money. Especially the ability to use this outside in direct sunlight makes it worth it I think. I give it 3 stars becuase I think the features are not as good as advertised or not well defined.

Look, shooting is about getting three things right: framing, exposure and focus. What I need from a camera monitor is a clear display is can see even in bright Southern California sun, that gives me a clear idea of where my aperture and focus are. I had a Feelworld 7” for years that I liked, but in a few recent shoots realized it was too dark. I bought and returned Atomos Shinobi and Portkeys and found they were also WAY too dim, and in the case of the Shinobi, the focus peaking was off, giving me soft video results.You can see the difference in the picture between the 3000 nit brightness of this new 5.5” monitor versus the older one. It’s literally night and day. If you don’t need your monitor to record video to, or to start/stop recording, I’m pretty sure this is the best one to use next to SmallHD, and it’s a LOT cheaper.
