Fender 990818500 Locking Stratocaster & Telecaster Tuning Machines,I've been building a guitar in my spare time. Ive not installed Fender locking tuners before although they have been on some of my guitar which Ive owned over the years.I liked the quality of these i bought them because they were cheaper than what i usually use on my guitars.I've used cheaper version of locking tuners before and either the chrome or black would flake off and as far as locking the string in place Ive had issues where the string would snap or the thread would get stripped so the locking button would just constantly spin. These have been installed now for a few weeks and honestly haven't had an issue with. If your looking to replace your old Fender tuners for locking ones as long as there 2 pins you shouldn't really have an issue they should just drop in place. As mine was a new build i had to drill where the 2 pins would be and while not the hardest job it is a pain because you have to be precise. So if your tuners are the 1 pin version and you don't feel comfortable then i would suggest taking to your local guitar tech.Overall for around £65 ive pleased with the quality, They lock the string in place i haven't had an issue's so far, These are aesthetically pleasing however, the main reason for buying is for function which they certainly do as advertised.

Permettono maggiore stabilità e cambio corde veloce. Un po' care per avere a differenza delle locking moderne, in pratica solo una manopola in stile vintage.

I've used Fender locking tuners on several of my Fender electric guitars and it's a simple swap. I would recommend them to any guitar player that needs to change strings quickly. (Like breaking a string onstage!) All you have to do is put the string through the bridge so the ball-end is seated and then open the tuner hole opening by turning the locking knob counter-clockwise. Put the other end of the string through the hole in the tuner, pull it tight, tighten the locking knob clockwise, re-tune and you're done. The string doesn't even make one wrap over the post. To remove the string, loosen the tension on the string, turn the locking knob counter-clockwise and the string can be easily pulled out. The locking feature doesn't make your guitar stay in tune like a Floyd Rose system does, it just makes string changing super easy. Good tuners help keep your guitar in tune after they've been stretched enough and these are good tuners! But you will have to re-tune occasionally.Fender has two styles available: modern and vintage. The ones pictured are the vintage shape with an oval knob. The modern style has the newer diamond shaped tuner knob. These tuners are also staggered with the high E, B and G tuner posts shorter than the D, A and low E ones to give a good string angle over the nut. Not all after-market tuners have that feature.Beware, these tuners fit modern Fender headstocks that have two small pilot holes side by side. They don't use wood screws to hold in place like other brands. The hex nut on top of the headstock does that. For a new headstock like the one in the photos, you'll have to drill the two pilot holes for each tuner yourself. I found a jig online that makes it very easy.
