Works great, fast shipping, wadda ya say? It’s a tube and sounds great in my amp. I needed a cleaner Fender twin type tone and this did it.

My Fender 68 Princeton Reissue started getting very noisy, especially the reverb. I have a bunch of NOS 12AX7 tubes (but no 12at7 tubes) and found the noise resolved when I replaced the second tube from the right (looking from the back - I assume this is the reverb related tube). Case closed, I thought, but then I noticed that the tube I took out is a 12AT7 and I replaced it with a 12AX7.After consulting some experts in a guitar amps forum I learned that the 12AT7 and the 12AX7 are not interchangeable, at least not for the reverb tube. The 12AX7 will work, has a lot more gain.So I ordered one of these and a two days later my amp is sounding better than ever.

The valve was purchased as a replacement for one acting as an oscillator in a piece of equipment dating from the 1950s. At first I thought that it was not a true 12AT7 replacement due to a marked difference with regard to the heaters, thinking it to be just a quiet double triode valve for use in preamplifiers. However to my surprize it was fully capable of meeting the 12AT7 specification

This is a low gain preamp tube, but my oh my does it sound good. I have it in a 1974x lite iib circuit and the cleans are as good as I've ever heard from a Marshall (-type circuit). When the amp does start to clip, there's more power tube distortion than preamp tube distortion, and the result is chills run up your spine. It's a really great sounding tube.Stiffer than the 12ay7 that I'm using now, but it does have great frequency response. Would work well in a circuit which has a tube (vs. solid state) rectifier. Strong low end and some very SRV like low end (not so much with the high end though).
