This propane stove is an absolute game-changer for outdoor adventures! Its compact size makes it perfect for backpacking trips, yet it delivers impressive heat for cooking hearty meals. Easy to set up and incredibly reliable, it's become an essential part of my camping gear arsenal.

Let me preface this review by saying that I have been camping with gas stoves since the 1970s and I have owned quite a few over the years including several Jetboil and Jetboil clones. This Flame King stove is hands down, by far, the worst I have ever used. The problems:The piezo ignitor does not work at all. It only makes a spark in maybe 2 out of 3 attempts. The button is very small, hard to reach, and takes a huge amount of pressure to get a click. It just feels very cheaply made. Adjusting the gas high or low makes no difference. Gently bending the electrode makes no difference. In literally 100 attempts it never lit the burner. But a lighter worked just fine. The pot handle is very hard to unfold or fold back up. There is a metal button you push to release the handle. The button pushes back a pin that engages a notch on each side of handle. The problem is, the mechanism is so poorly made that the pin does not go far back enough to disengage the notches. You have to fiddle with it quite a bit to either open or close the handle. Pulling back on the handle and wiggling it while you push the button seems to work but it's always sticky. When you pull the cup off the bottom of the pot, the windscreen comes with it. Removing the windscreen from the cup is a PITA because it is a very tight fit. And once you fit the windscreen to the stove it doesn't want to come off because that is also a very tight fit. Another part to fiddle with, except this one is very hot when you want to remove the pot from the stove. The accessory adaptor ring that allows you to use regular pots on this stove is also a very tight fit. Initially I thought it would not fit at all. But after 5 minutes of fiddling I was able to cram it on.Again, I have several other stoves of the same basic design as this one and none of the others have these problems. Not even close. With all these issues the decision to return the stove was a no brainer. This is Amazon, should be easy, right? Wrong. The stove is non returnable because they call it hazmat. WTH? I can't send it back in exactly the same packaging and condition they sent it to me? Did it suddenly become hazmat when I received it? Keep in mind that no fuel is sent either way. It's just the stove. I checked Jetboil and MSR stoves. Both take returns. What makes this stove different?I'm going to contact the manufacturer to see if I can resolve this issue. I don't want another stove because I don't believe it will be any better. I just want my money back. The Jetboil model this stove has cloned costs about 4x as much. It's a case of getting what you pay for.

This stove is very good. Lightweight despite the comments of picky backpackers, and easy to use. However, some slight modifications will make it WAY better.First, the connection between the stove and the pot is FAR too tight, taking an adjustable wrench or pliers and carefully widening the rim of the stove component will do wonders for removing the pot after heating. Additionally, the plastic and the metal of the stove component become slightly loose over time, so adding some high temp epoxy like JB-weld in the crevices where the metal and plastic connect keep the unit tight and together. As well, the "cozy" pot sleeve will get soaking wet if you attempt to pour pot contents slowly. I recommend picking up a silicone 64 oz water bottle sleeve, and cutting it to fit the pot in it's place.I will comment that after a few weeks of use, the stove makes sputtering sounds occasionally at high heat, but does not create any propane smell or indications of safety issues.
