Outstanding backpacking accessory! I recently used this product to hold my phone on my backpack shoulder strap during a very challenging 4 day solo backpacking trek through mountainous territory. This device securely held my device throughout the trip and I am a true believer in the utility and security it provides for my device. Things that I really like about it: the clip securely attaches to my backpack strap - it took me a bit of experimentation to find the right location and method to clip it to my backpack, but once there, it was there for the duration. I like that this product includes a phone tether insert for one's magsafe case, allowing easy connection and one-handed disconnection from the tether system. Before taking off my pack (most of the time), I would disconnect the phone from its tether and place it in my pocket. A few times, I forgot and my phone held to the magnet during most of the pack-dismounts, but did get bumped off a couple of times. I recommend taking the phone off of the tether and putting it one's pocket before taking off the pack. The coiled tether itself was plenty long for handheld use and it was very easy and intuitive to remove the phone from the mag mount and then reattach it securely after looking at my map. I never once pulled out my paper maps, thanks to this product. Highly recommended for backpackers and others relying on using their phone as a GPS/navigation device. Outstanding product!

I was really excited for this phone holder because of the clip and cord, being able to access the phone easily while hiking.However, it could not be used with my case so it was kind of a waste for me. I might get a backpacking only case, so I can use it, but for now it’s useless.It does seem like the magnet is sufficiently strong
