Love this book bag and it keeps my books safe and has lots of storage for my other stuff .

This is exciting! I've put books into purses before...and many purse straps met a premature end. This bag is specifically designed to carry your everyday essentials AND a book lover's essentials, too. You can't put a coffee table book in here, but it easily took the hard cover I'm currently reading which measures 9.5" by 6.5" which is wonderful because I've often had to grab a small mass market paper back book when on the go just because the new release hard cover I really wanted to read wouldn't fit in my purse. No longer are hard covers relegated to the bedside table; they are going places in style!It isn't quite tall enough for a standard sized coloring book to fit, but it can easily hold a small sketch book and a few art supplies. If you look at my photos they show a hard cover and small sketch book in the large main compartment and a pack of colored pencils in the open back pocket. In the front pocket I have normal purse items along with a couple of crochet hooks because if I leave the sketch book at home I can easily fit a small yarn project in this bag instead.Both straps are sturdy. If you are using the shoulder strap you can tuck the smaller handles back into the bag which is pretty cool. The front handle pocket is where I like to put my phone for easy access. It's deeper than I expected and feels very secure. I am very comfortable bringing this bag anywhere that I might have a moment to sit and read. There was a little bit of a chemical smell when it first arrived, but a couple days on the porch aired it right out. I've only just started using it, but it seems really strong and well made. If it falls apart in me I will update this review, but I really think it can handle the task it was designed for! Happy reading on the go to all my fellow book lovers!
