Daughter wore this and it worked and looked great. The pony tail hole has elastic and we were able to get her pony tail through it with minimal hassle. Kept her head warm at a 27 degree football game last week.

I bought this hat for my daughter because I love mine and she always wants her hair up. However, the child’s hat does not fit like the adult hats. It is tight on her head where mine is looser. Kinda disappointed since I love mine and hoped it would work as well for her

My 3 stars are mostly in reference to the 'fit', for my small ADULT head. Though I can get it on, it only comes down far enough to barely cover my ears. It otherwise seems pretty well-made, and good looking quality. However, I went outside with it on a 32-degree non-windy day, and it wasnt all that warm; didn't seem to hold in heat as much as I'd want, but its a good compromise between an ear warmer and a hat. I had originally purchased this same one in an 'adult' ponytail beanie (same style, same seller), but returned, as it was too large for my head. so I thought I'd give this 'child's' one a try. I can only wear childrens' eyeglass frames, if that give you an idea of my small head size. 'Hoping someone will manufacture a 'pre-teen' sized ponytail beanie soon, {to fill in the size gap}, because I do like the quality and style of this. I'm going to keep it, hoping it might stretch a bit as it gets worn in.UPDATE: After wearing this 3 times, it does seem to have broken in a bit with more 'give', and is working fine for my small adult head. It fits nice and snug retaining its stretch (not relaxing), and looks great; I just wish it were a tad warmer for the cold winter...

Really cute hat, very functional. It's a bit snug on my 9 year old's head. She's always had a pretty small head so if your daughter has an average to large size head, you may want to go with the adult version.
