Great quality tool works great when replacing cv boot clamps.

Bought to replace cv boots on my truck. Read some reviews that it doesn’t come with directions and to watch a video on how to use it. I did just that and had no trouble figuring it out. Works very well to install the “pull and fold over “ type clamps. Does not work with the crimp style clamps. For the money, I’m satisfied. I bought the used one from Amazon warehouse and it was like new and saved a few dollars.

This worked perfectly for the double- wrap bands provided with my GKN 1994 Civic CV joints. Don't think it would be possible to install them without this tool. Two things that weren't obvious to me at first:1. When you tighten the band, the nose of the tool goes right against the retaining collar, which means you are pulling the band upwards at about a 30 degree angle. At first I was afraid it would break the band or the collar to not pull it straight. But this is apparently how the tool is designed to work, and there were no problems, When tight enough, lift the tool up to 90 degrees and the band will stay cinched while you stake the collar to lock it in place.2. The grooved cylinder for winding the band is intentionally left loose in the tool. This is so you can slide the cylinder on and off the band without threading it all the way through. Especially important after tightening, when the band is kinked after being wound onto the cylinder. Would be hard to slide it through to remove. This is a feature, not a defect.
