Caught a leak early before it could do any damage. Saved us A LOT of trouble.

Received the unit today and battery at 23%. East to set up. App works well on Android, but not so good on iPhone. Did 11 tests, and I only got the sound alarm on my iPhone 3 times. The alarm would also stop after seconds.

I am setting up my house with Google Smart home. Of all the different suppliers, Geeni is by far the best with ALL of their smart home devices. I have tried other leak sensors and nothing else functions to the superior level that Geeni does. You can buy different devices from an assortment of companies. Google home will recognize them, though your phone will get cluttered with many apps, user names, passwords... etc. I highly recommend to keep your Smart Home simple and stay with one trusted company.

After two days of hell figuring out how to manually install and then reinstall this product over and over again, through sheer stubbornness I finally have it apparently working for now. Tech-support was utterly useless but at least friendly. I also have a Geeni camera that was very difficult to get integrated into my smart home as well only to be unable to record on the SD card (sold separately ) in the end. I have over 40 smart devices by at least seven different brand names all integrated into my multi Alexa system and the only common denominator is this name brand (Geeni) garbage that has been a nightmare. After all the trouble and partial functionality I decided not to return the items and only asked for a free battery for water sensor as the one they sent me was half dead and now almost completely dead after two days of trying to set up. I was told they could not do that and I would receive an email from a supervisor twice by two separate tech-support specialists. Needless to say I have not received any emails as of yet. Save your money and buy well rated cheaper devices by lesser known brand names and you will find as I did significant savings, an much easier install with overall better functionality.

Take the reviews with a grain of salt. It’s kinda where we’re at these days. People are generally really good at complaining and really inclined to do so, rather than focusing that energy on what their actually attempting to achieve. How you can’t figure this device out without instructions is truly beyond me. The device contains a easily accessible battery with a sliver of plastic between the negative side to preserve battery life as it sits on the shelf. The battery itself is a cr123 and is your typical generic battery. After initial setup, the battery levels all (I purchased 4 units) displayed between 1/2 & 3/4. The next day they all displayed full and have remained that way since (about three weeks). The setup wasn’t at all complicated. It obviously helps if you have experience of how these types of devices work. Your Wi-Fi router needs to be properly configured prior to even attempting setup. These devices only work with 2G and the device you’re attempting to setup these through must be utilizing the same 2G Wi-Fi network at the time of setup. They are much easier to setup utilizing the “fast setup” method where the light blinks rapidly. When you’re following the instructions and you’re holding the button for setup- if it initially blinks slow, just press and hold the button again until it begins to blink rapidly (2x/sec).. If you’re unsuccessful after three attempts, remove the battery for 10 secs and try again. If unsuccessful after that, you will likely need to verify your router is setup properly. At my apartment, I have a netgear router I purchased from Walmart to which I didn’t have to do anything to. However, at my girlfriends apartment, she has a router from spectrum/charter which needed to have the setting pertaining to “N networks only” manually changed to automatic in order to get it to work. The device itself works perfectly. There is a internal speaker that beeps locally when water is detected. The alerts, both locally and remotely were immediate. You can also very easily change the default names of the device as well to whatever you want it to be displayed as. As far as range for Wi-Fi- you should keep your expectations reasonable. A good threshold I use for these is if you have a solid two bars of Wi-Fi signal displayed on your phone/tablet from the location where you want your device, then you should be good. A choppy one bar? Maybe? Keep your expectations reasonable. Within 75’- you should be good..
