This is the second one of these I've bought. I've got one on my house and one on a rental property. I had forgotten when I went to install the second one that these things are self-contained cellular devices and don't need local wifi.

I wrestled with whether or not to buy this initially, thinking "How hard is it to just walk out and look at the tank gauge?" However, my wife convinced me to get it since I always seemed to forget to check the propane level in a timely manner, and I'm really glad she did. Installation was super easy...just clip the cable onto the remote-ready gauge on the tank, then download the app and set up the account & cellular connection. Nothing to it.What I really like most about this item is that it interfaces with our EcoBee thermostat (also easy to set up), so now we can check the propane level with just a tap on the thermostat screen. Can also check the level remotely via the app. It looks like it's possible to set up the app to automatically schedule a refill when you get low, but I've not bothered to set this part up, so I can't really comment on how well it works.Overall, very pleased with this product.

Device came without directions, so had to get a YouTube video. Easy to install. Once installed and activared, the device was registered to a different account . This took 2 days and 3 phone calls to GENERAC to solve. The sunscription for service WAS NOT $14.99 annually, but instead $74.99....device works as adverised, but not a seamless installation/registration

I should have done more research on this. It does work as stated and is fairly easy to setup and use. However it requires a 50.00 a year subscription to get ANY information from this device. It uses a cellular signal and only updates once per day at the same time you first set it up. You can change the time only by using the magnets to tell it to “update now”. You can not make it update on demand from the app. The whole magnet thing is weird also, but I guess it was it’s better than having a button that can leak. The readings take a while to show up in the app at times. I did reach out to their support number but was required to leave a message. No one ever called back, but I figured out my issues on my own.I like having the information, but had I known how it worked and about the yearly fee, i probability wouldn’t have purchased it. It’s not that far a walk to look at the gauge.

I have owned and used both the Generac 7005 Propane Tank (LP) Fuel Level Monitor - WiFi enabled and the Generac 7009 LTE Propane Tank Fuel Level Monitor.I owned the 7005 from Feb 2021 and used it until Jun 2023 (2 years, 5 months). The 7005 (WiFi) model broke a few months after the warranty expired and I was told by Generac support that the devices are not guaranteed to function for more than the warranty period, and therefore I would need to invest $250 in the 7009 (LTE) to replace it.Unfortunately, the 7005 (WiFi) did not require a $50 per year subscription to use, but the 7009 (LTE) does require $50 per year to use. And the 7005 (WiFi) is no longer sold by Generac. Looks like they phased out the WiFi model so they could upsell people to the LTE model which gives them a longer term revenue source via the $50 per year subscription fee.I also had a very very difficult time with the 7005 (WiFi) when I owned it. Setting it up was near impossible, customer service were not knowledgeable at all.In short, if you're looking for a way to monitor your propane tank remotely, you're better off buying a camera and pointing it at the propane tank gauge and monitoring it that way. At least cameras will work for longer than 2 years before breaking.I would give Generac and this product negative stars if I could, but since 1 star is the lowest I can give, that is what I will be doing.
