I had recently purchased 4 new AD-200 flash kits. On my first shoot, I had 2 of them mounted on the AD-B2with a 35 inch beauty dish. The wind caught it and knocked it over before i could catch it, and it landed on and busted one of my strobesWith the EC-200's , I can now mount the main unit down low on the stand where it is better protected, and mount the flash tubes up high, keeping the weight down low. It is a big game changer for your flashes

I'll apologize in advance for stating that not everybody needs one of these, I know that's not a good lead in to a sale. If you have the desire to hang the AD200 unit lower on the stand to protect it from a fall, however, this is how you do it and do it well. I actually purchased this for relocating the head on a tall Stroboframe flash bracket that I've had for about 30 years. Yeah, I know, nobody uses those anymore since we all went digital and DSLRs are generally sensitive enough to get the job done without supplemental light. Sometimes you just need to shoot film, sometimes you end up at a job that's as bright as a cave, sometimes you just want to have the option of fill flash without having the fill flash right on the hot shoe. With the EC200, I can hang the AD200 on my side, put the bare bulb in (or not) a reflector and mount it atop the bracket for a fully adjustable light source that can be bounced anywhere without an additional stand or an assistant. I'm assuming you already have a GODOX wireless trigger if you are considering the EC200, but if you don't, go ahead and get one of those as well.

What am I saying?!?! BUY THIS! What a fantastic way to get a strobe on camera! There may be times it’s overkill, but when shooting events, I sometimes find I need to be at ISO 1600 just to get a subject that’s less than 10’ away. With this I am finding that I can be at ISO 100-400 while still getting light on my subject. If you notice on my photo, there’s the Godox dome diffuser. I bought this because the description says 0-90º but says nothing about turning. Well, push the same release button to tilt the head and you can rotate 90º left and 180º right! Now I can go back to bouncing the light, like a speed light, and have a light that’s 3xs as powerful as a speed light.Ignore my headline and BUY ONE!Oh yeah, it also allows you to get the flash head up high and keep the flash unit lower for better balance. I’ll be buying at least a second one for use with the Godox AD-B2.
