I bought an old-school DOD ICE-T 60 Watt guitar amp from a thrift store for $20 a few years ago. It had old paper cone / foam surround 8" / 8 Ohm speakers that were totally destroyed. But I remembered that these little amps had great specs, effects, sound, etc.These speakers are advertised as home-stereo, box/speaker replacements - but I gave them a try - and they are killer..! I marked and drilled new mounting holes into the amp and the speakers installed and fit perfectly.These 8" 8 Ohm speakers are SO much better technology, sound, durability, and performance than paper/foam old/tech speakers..!!I am Very happy!! Thanks for the well built, affordable speakers!!

I got two of these GRS 8" woofers in late 2023 to replace the woofers in my 16-year-old PA speakers. The surround material on the old woofers was wearing out and cracking, and I thought the GRS drivers would be a nice upgrade. Unfortunately, they produced less bass than the originals and sounded very flat. I use the PA speakers a few times a year for karaoke parties, so they're definitely not abused or overworked. Fast forward one year, and both GRS woofers are blown with fried voice coils. These are supposedly 200W drivers, but they couldn't handle my little 50W amplifier.

Update.. 2 months of good testing.. these still rockin… receives my stamp of approval.. great sound, high quality…. Original review: Time will tell… have not had time to full test out.. but for the money, seems to be decent. I ordered 2, one to replace a blown speaker in my vintage techniques speakers. The other one arriving next week, so I don’t have the full effect yet. Far as quality, way better than original… can’t wait to have both

I purchased one to replace a blown woofer in a pair of old JBL bookshelf speakers, but I should have done more research beforehand. While the speaker is of quality construction and performs well given enough power, it was not a good match for my application. They are not very sensitive, so even with the bass cranked up to the maximum, at low to medium volumes it barely makes any noise. Once you give it some juice, it sounds good and has strong, punchy bass. For $12 I feel it was worth experimenting, but I will be looking for something that has better sensitivity.
