Isn't worth the box it came in

I thought this add-on skill / miter saw laser guide would be just what I need.My older power saws do not have the luxury of such modern helpful technology!I was soon disappointed with it after it arrived though. It's a bare bones product that came in a box with no user or installation instructions.I had to figure which way and how it would fit onto my saws.A couple of tries and a couple of failures had me scratching my head until I realized this laser light replaces the arbor flange that holds the blade on. Only it's plastic not metal.I was reluctant to tighten it onto the blade too tightly. The laser light is turned on by centrifugal force – as it spins, contacts are made and the red laser beamshines onto your work..It wasn't all that successful when installed on an old 7 ¼ inch circular saw.The laser light was not that bright, and once the saw was lowered onto the wood it was nearly impossible to see.It was much easier to know where to cut by using the traditional notch on the saw's sole plate. So for me this guide laser light was not that useful.

I like that this is rechargeable so I don't have to mess with those stupid little watch batteries all the time. I do wish that since it is rechargeable it would have an on and off button so you could leave it on if you want to. If the battery runs out you could just charge it again.

I really wanted to like this rechargeable miter saw laser guide, but after installing and testing it, I cannot recommend it- primarily due to the complete lack of documentation and secondarily due to safety concerns with its construction. No Instructions, No Specs - A Major OversightThe product arrives in a small box with just three parts:1. The laser guide itself2. A rubber insert to keep sawdust out of the USB-C charging port3. A stainless steel washerThat’s it - no instructions, no material specifications, no guidance on how it integrates with different saw types. While installation is fairly straightforward, I had to reference the Amazon product page to visually confirm key details. This is especially problematic given that this device replaces a critical tool steel arbor flange washer - the part that secures the saw blade. If there were any engineering specs proving the plastic laser guide was strong enough for this application, I’d feel better, but there’s nothing.Plastic Replacing Steel? That’s a Big Ask.I understand that some plastics can be as strong as steel in certain applications, but without specs or certification, I can’t trust an unknown plastic part to do the same job as a tool steel washer on a high-speed, high-torque saw. That’s a safety risk I’m not willing to take.Performance: Usable, But Not Without IssuesThe laser does work and provides a visible red guideline. However, in a well-lit workspace (especially with a task light on the saw), the laser was nearly invisible. I had to turn off my work light to see it.My Apple phone camera exaggerated the laser line in photos, so keep that in mind - the pictures look brighter than reality.Final Verdict: Not Worth the RiskI love the concept of an add-on rechargeable laser guide, but lack of documentation, safety concerns, and poor visibility under normal shop lighting make this a hard pass for me. If the manufacturer provided clear material specifications and installation guidance, I might reconsider - but as it stands, I can’t recommend or use this product.⭐ 1 Star – Do Not Recommend

Since I didn't buy a saw with a laser beam, I thought this was an amazing idea. And it is a good idea, it just has some flaws that make it less than desirable. The lack of instructions is a real concern since it is used on a tool that could be dangerous if something was not installed correctly. It is simple enough to figure out since there isn't much you can actually do in that spot but still needs instructions. The design replaces our metal arbor flange with a plastic piece. This is not my favorite thing, and I wish it was designed with some sort of metal center.Making this rechargeable was a good idea. The light is not impressive, but it is there. It works off centrifugal force, so nothing is required from you to operate it. It is easy to figure out how to use the light and I guess it is better to have some light over no light. The unit does what it was intended for and upgrades a saw to have a laser. If you can accept the cheap design, then you can have a laser on your saw.
