I like this slow cooker but have to admit I was surprised by the "crock". Yes, I read that you can put the crock on a stovetop to sear food prior to slow cooking or even put it in a hot oven but, frankly, the product description didn't make it clear to me that the "crock" was metal instead of a heavyweight ceramic as is the historical norm. Since I likely will not sear food, I wondered would the lightweight metal crock cook the same as my old ceramic crock? To find out I cooked a large chuck roast as I usually do, on slow for 6-8 hours. Here are my results:• Heat-up time: Metal crock with food heated up much faster.• Cook time on low: Faster cook time. About 25% faster.• Reached safe eating temperature faster.• Final result was beef that browned and got tender as usual. Just faster.I still used a disposable slow cooker liner even though the metal crock is non-stick coated. I like the automatic “go to warm” feature after your set cycle time completes. Metal crock is light weight which may be good for some people. Simple controls are adequate for most needs without undue complexity. If you need a timed start look elsewhere.

I really do have to say I'm loving the ability to sear meat and and saute vegetables on the stove and transfer it right to the crock-Pot with no added dish or dishes in between. The pot does get hot on the stove, requiring potholders to hold it steady and stirring and transferring the pot back into the crock pot heating part. I did notice that the interior scratched bit when I stored it with the plug inside of it. I'm being sure not to use any metal utensils. I'm on those people that search and read reviews, organizing over a decision over the course of days. So cut to the chase for those like me, yes I would recommend it. It is different from your regular crock pot. But the convenience and electronic features combined to make this a great deal.

The ceramic lining of my 25 year old crock pot cracked so I needed a new crockpot. The company that made my old one no longer makes crockpots. I chose this crockpot because 1). It is the same size as my old crockpot 2). I wanted to have multiple cook times/temperature settings. This review is for the 33662, not the one that locks. When it arrived I was a little worried because it was so light, but definitely a plus over my old crockpot. I was a little concerned that the insert is non-stick aluminum since my last one was ceramic. I have used this crockpot three times so far. I usually use the crockpot 2-3 times a month. I am actually very happy with the light weight nonstick aluminum insert. I used liners in the past but with this crockpot they are not necessary (so far). It cleans up very fast. The light weight also makes it easier to handle while cleaning. My only concern is that the crockpot seems to cook things hotter/faster than my old crockpot and I have had to adjust the cooking times for some recipes but knowing that and adjusting is a minor issue. Because of how light it is I do worry about it’s longevity but I don’t expect anything to last like they used to. Overall I am happy with the purchase.

Was real stoneware before but not just a cheap aluminium pot that will degrade overtime
