I bought this for myself, good quality and very happy with the larger hot pads. I bought additional loop colors and wooden rings. These make really nice gifts.

I was looking for a simple craft and decided to try the potholder weaving. It really satisfies my need for creativity and designing something. I'm very happy with the kit. My second potholder was much neater than my first. I'm also posting a picture of how I secured the pot holder while creating the edge. The instructions in the kit are to pull a loop from the pot holder and secure it to the loom to keep the item stretched while you are creating the edge. This method really stretches out the single loop and it's hard to get it back in line to look good. I decided to try binder clips and it worked perfectly. No stretching of the edge. I've already ordered another bag of loops and I'm planning on making several sets for gifts. Very happy with this easy and extremely satisfying craft. Recommend highly.

I debated investing in this and all the loops needed once you have it. This is not a cheap hobby. However, it makes for a great gift giving product in the end,I’ve made lots of hot pads now and handed them out as gifts. People are always tickled to get something pretty and useful. So, if you break down the cost as an actual gift (handmade to boot), it makes the investment worth every penny and you get the very simple joy of doing something you probably did as a kid with nylon loops that melted when you used them. The loom itself is super sturdy and the cotton loops actually vary with color. Black is the sturdiest, white the least sturdy (they tend to fray out more easily). Could be my imagination, but I’m sticking to that evaluation for now. This purchase has become a huge hit. If you can afford it, go for it. I would get the smaller loom for kids.
