I used to buy my meatballs prepared and ready to bake. But I rarely like them as much as I used to love my mom’s homemade meatballs. Now I can make them easily with this contraption, and I like her recipe so much better than the store variety!

I love this because it makes meatballs easy to make. My husband agrees, but doesn't like that they aren't perfectly round. You still have to manually shape them after they have been cut. We both like that it reduces the amount of time to make meatballs. If you don't want to get your hands messy and don't mind meatballs that are more of a square shape, this is for you! If you want round balls and don't mind getting your hands a little messy, then this is for you!

I was a little skeptical but I took a chance based on the price and reviews. It worked quite well; I was surprised how rapidly and easily I was able to produce a pan sheet of meatballs. After a rapid squeeze to give a slightly more spherical shape, in the oven they went.An unexpected benefit was that the meatballs were less dense than usual, presumably because they skipped being rolled (pressed?) in my hand. The meatballs held together just fine, just had a nicer texture.I do wish there were markings on the tray to help with even servings. Like a dough scraper with measurements engraved into the blade, the tray could have slight notches every inch or every cm.Cleanup was easy; no crud visible after a run in the dishwasher. For storage, I wish there were a clip to keep the parts together. In sum:+ efficient, rapid, easy to use+ cleans easily in the dishwasher+ resulting meatballs are less dense than hand-pressed- needs markings for consistent portions- needs a clip to keep parts together when stored- resulting meatballs are not perfectly roundIn addition to meatballs, I plan to use this to portion for homemade matzo balls, gyoza and siu mai. And cookie balls to freeze for individual portions.Follow up: it worked great for cookies! Some of the M&Ms did get broken when I pushed down the spade but that’s a small imperfection for such convenience. I’ve never portioned a double batch of cookies so easily! (I was able to approximate my Oxo medium cookie scoop but as I wrote above, I wish the paddle had markings for even portioning.)Good tool!

The product is pretty easy to use but some instructions would be nice. All that is in the small package is the meat form, the shaping tool and the cooking spoon.Fill the form with cold raw ground meat but not too full, you need some space to make the first meatball.Shove the tool into the ground meat pulling forward and pushing down. I can't get perfectly round balls yet but I think with some practice. I roll the meatballs in my hand a bit.Be sure to pack the meat into the form. It is more fun than using an ice cream scoop.

Great for making meatballs quickly. You'll still need to shape it a bit, but it's quicker than making one at a time when you can do 4 at a time saving a bit of time. Also great for making other rounded foods quicker its not just limited to meatballs. Everything that came with it is made out of metal and easy wash if washed right after use.
