This is my second stand alone ice maker, and the first (Euhomy) I love for the most part, but it doesn't have a self-cleaning feature so I bought this as an "upgrade". It's small and makes ice. But the design is so messy - the ice needs to be removed and stored immediately or else it will melt. Not a big deal! It's not a freezer after all. But I was never able to remove the ice from the machine without getting water everywhere - constant leaking and water on the counter and floor. This is likely due to having the drawer pull out from the front of the machine instead of the top - but that's a design choice that causes a lot of issues, and ultimately made this unusable for me.

Looking for an ice machine, we found this compact model. It truly lives up to the ratings we read before purchase. The instructions are easy to understand. It's easy to set up. It makes ice very quickly. We now always have ice. This one we purchased because the old fashioned one in our top freezer barely makes enough for four glasses a day, and we needed more. With this one, we've always got ice. We do prefer the larger size "cubes" due to having them last longer. We appreciate having the light in the ice drawer to check the water level and see the amount of available ice. Some have commented about the water dripping on your countertop when opening the ice drawer. Yes, that happens. That could happen for two reasons. One is because you put the water in the drawer which in turn drains below, so there's always moisture under the drawer. Also, living in a high humidity area could cause some drips too, which is where we are. I ususally get about four to six drops of water on the counter when opening the drawer, which is an easy fix. We found the loudest noise comes from when the first two loads of ice drop into an empty drawer. You soon become immune to it. Otherwise, you don't hear it. I usually remove the drawer after two glasses of ice taken and add water directly to the water bin, being careful to not add more than a cup at a time. Or, you'll be cleaning off your counter tops. LOL The weekly cleaning takes about an hour of ice making, running some type of citric acid through it. It's even got a self cleaning button. I used lemon juice the first time. It really is a great value for the quality and the smart design. It's got a very rich, professional look for a tiny machine. You can't go wrong with this machine. I'd have given it a 4 star rating because of the way AMAZON packed and delivered it, but then that would not have been fair. It wasn't the ice makers fault. AMAZON placed it in a very large box, much larger than needed, without any packing materials. It was moving all over inside its packing box. We thought for sure that it had been damaged. But thankfully, no. Hopefully, they'll read this and pack better.

I've had about half a dozen portable ice makers and they all sucked. Went about a year without one, buying ice as needed but that is a pain so I decided to give it another go. This one actually works! All the other ones I've owned had the same problems. Ice too small and melts quickly and noisy. This model produces large clear cubes ( I only use distilled water) quickly and the cubes stay frozen for a long time. Yes they do start melting if left overnight but not too bad. Very quiet and no leaking. I like the design and has a small foot print. I can't think of any negatives so far. Will keep updating if any thing changes.

I really really wanted to LOVE this ice maker. There are some things I love and some things I do not.Pros:Space-saving. It doesn’t take up very much space. However I wouldn’t have it too close to nothing on either side as the fan has to be unobstructed. The self-cleaning feature is really nice. 👍🏻Makes ice pretty quickly.Front loading tray.Cons:The design for this isn’t ideal and the reason is because the tray has a hole where the water drips from. When you pull out the tray, the water comes spilling out from that hole which is triggered by a spring mechanism. I don’t know why this was part of the design, I feel a basket would have been better. This is most likely why the top loading ice machines are a better design. The ice machine itself isn’t extremely loud but when the ice hits the tray it is definitely louder than my old ice machines.Sometimes it makes half-ice cubes. For instance I filled it up completely with water, and then I see half sized bullet ice. It usually doesn’t last but it is quite annoying. The design of the basket also does not prevent the ice from melting. The fact that it’s not a basket, and the water doesn’t drip from the hole until you pull out the tray, it has water sit at the bottom which makes the ice melt fairly quick. The trays “drip tray” is not far enough away from the bottom that it actually helps. The ice machine itself could be bigger. I think this would solve a few issues such as the basket drip tray being too close to the bottom, it would allow for more ice to be made, and the tray could be bigger. I would definitely find a new design for the basket because the water getting all over the place is a pain. All in all, it’s not a bad ice machine but the design could definitely be improved upon. I think most people would opt for a bigger machine that’s top loading rather than a really small machine that takes up no space but also gets water on the counter.
