These are questionable. They are yellow to begin with and cause more confusion than anything when it comes to figuring out if there is lead on something.

I guess it works. Strangely, everything i need to test is some shade of orange.So...i had a couple spots that showed dark orange and a couple that did turn dark pink- on painted areas that appear to be the same paint.The color scale is not much of a scale so i think I'll have to get a different test that doesn't start out as bright orange.

Regardless of declarations to the contrary, many bowls and dishes (especially hand painted ones) contain lead. Lead can easily mix with hot food and enter the body. Once ingested, lead is difficult to eliminate and can cause permanent health problems - especially for growing children. Since dishes are used repeatedly, the danger can be ever present. These simple test swabs show the presence and degree of lead content.
