I was looking for a short scale, lightweight bass since I'm a smaller person, and my ol reliable Yamaha is very heavy with an XL scale. For the price, this bass is incredible. It' lighter than my Stratocaster, but a bit heavier than it's competitor, the Squire Bronco, by about a pound. The sound quality is incredible, SOOO much better than my Yamaha. I absolutely love the gorgeous glossy finish too. All around, it's a wonderful bass and I'm so excited to bring it onstage.

I bought this bass, not expecting much. I wanted a short-scale that was inexpensive to carry around and "beat" on when I don't want to pull the Fender out of the closet. I, of course, did have to do some setup; adjust the bridge and string height. The neck is flat, and very heavy, so it feel sturdy, which is a good thing to me. It does make the neck dip when played on your knee, or even with a strap. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning. The G string was way off intonation. I literally had to bring the independent bridge for the G string all the way back; it can't go any further. And at that position it is just barely intoned. Adequate for me.The strings and pickups are very cheap, so don't expect much from those. I put some E=100 Flatwounds on for my own comfort. I did have to set the intonation for the E string again when I did this. This is not a bad bass for beginners, and at 30" scale for anyone wanting a shorter scale bass, just know that you will have to do some adjustment, which is normal for this price range.Oh, and the pickguard is kind of cheap. Was showing scratches from my finger after one use. Went looking for a better replacement online, and only found replacements for the TMB100 NOT the TMB30... so make sure to pay close attention if you plan on doing that.Part of me wishes I went with the short scale Ibanez around this same price range, but I was really drawn to the look of the body on this one.

This is an amazing value. I an Ibanez SR5000 and a Fender American 60s P Bass. Both are very expensive. I bought the TMB30 since it is a short scale and is $179. I just wanted this mainly to beat the hell out of it and not worry about dings, dents or damage if something happens to it. Plus its a short scale and i dont have one of those.Ibanez is known for there top notch quality and for $179 this bass is built with the quality of their high end basses. The fret ends are perfect, the setup was spot on, which for beginners is great cause you wont have to worry about a setup. You can just play it. The neck profile is a thicker C kind of like an older P bass C shape. Its very smooth and comfortable in your hands. Action was set just right. The neck was straight so no truss rod adjustment needed either. The sound is great too. The pickups are a little higher than i like so it plays hot right now. But the PJ pickups sound really great. The single coil J Bass pickup will have a little hum when you only use the J pickup, which is normal for a single coil. This is a short scale, but dont think of that as for beginners. Tyler Joseph plays a short scale bass on alot of songs. If you want a great playing bass for a low price this is for you. You can also get the long scale bass Ibanez makes - the TMB100 for i think $200. The TMB30 is outstanding and you will be glad you bought it when you are slapping the bass. So DO IT NOW...SLAP BUY NOW
