We just got the iFetch today, and our 16-month old, 7-pound Yorkie-Chon absolutely loves the extra small balls compared to a regular tennis ball. She actually didn't want to play with the iFetch at first because the balls themselves were so much fun. But when she saw the ball fly past her at high-speed, she totally got onboard! It took her about 5-10 minutes to learn to put the ball in the iFetch by herself. She's pretty good at putting away her toys in her basket at bedtime, so those skills were easily transferrable to the iFetch. However, she sort of waits for our signal to put the ball iFetch, so I'm hoping she will become more independent with the iFetch. I want her to be able to entertain herself while I work at home or when she is home alone. As for safety, she occasionally gets hit in the face, but then again, she HAS succeeded in catching it at close range to my surprise. She sometimes gets so obsessed that she stands right in front of it and catches it the millisecond that it comes out. She is THAT good. She can play with this for leterally hours on end if we let her.It is sort of disturbign and we should have a pet-intervention! lol!Day 2: I totaly ignored her whenever she gave me the ball to put in the machine, so she figured out that she had to do it herself. So now, she has learned to play with it by herself. (Now she doesn't keep bothering us to go downstairs with her to play after a long day at work!) She destroyed two of the blue balls by ripping off all the fuzz and gutting them, so I bought the XS Kong squeaker tennis ball 3-pack at the petshop, as someone mentioned in another review. I'm expecting the Kong products to last a lot longer. (And it's fun to have the squeak!)She slobbered a lot the first day, so put a paper towel underneath it. Now I know not to let her play too long with it, so the balls don't get so wet.One week later: Our dog is still completely obsessed by this toy. The Kong balls work ok, but get stuck often once the fuzz gets loosened. I bought squash balls, which she absolutely loves for the bounce and probably texture and durability, but they get REALLY slobbery, so after two or three times, they get stuck unless I wipe them off in a paper towel before putting them in there (which sort of defeats the purpose of independent play). She goes into a barking fit when the balls get jammed, but she doesn't like to play with the remaining blue iFetch ball which never gets jammed. Sigh. I'm still happy with this purchase...I just wish the balls were more durable and less fuzzy. She seems to have lost all interest in her other toys and balls.Best investment ever!I registered it in Canada and after a month or so, it broke and the company was really good about sending a replacement right away. As long as your dog doesn't overdo it and you clean the gunk every so often, it lasts.

Necesitas entrenar bien a tu perro.

I ordered this on 02/12 as a Christmas present for my sister's terrier. It arrived poorly packed, it had obviously been dropped prior to packing and the blue rim around the top was missing, as were the balls. Very disappointing. However, Amazon's re-ordering was excellent and a fully functional, properly put together bit of kit together with the balls was delivered a few days later. The dog adores it. He hasn't quite got the link between him loading the machine himself and the ball launch - he still thinks he has staff for that! Other reviewers have mentioned the quality of the balls -they are very fluffy and a temptation for the dog to shred. My sister 'shaved' them. Think the iFetch is best used for attended play - it's fantastic entertainment for the dog and for his staff! Amazon's returns procedure was pretty useless. The courier who said they called for it, didn't. Once in process it seems that you can't alter the method of return (perhaps I don't use Amazon enough to know if this is the case) and I ended up paying £13.00 to return by good old Royal Mail.
