It's quiet, powerful, the controller is easy to use. They provide plenty of flow, I run them half speed in my 90g saltwater tanks. They last for about 1-2 years, or so, then you might find one of them has stopped working. And it's not a controller issue, but the pump itself. It's still a cheap and great pump compared to Tunze and EcoTech prices. I'm retired, don't have enough income for a $250+ pump. And, those aren't bullet proof either. I've tried quite a few lower cost pumps, and so far these are the best for the money.

Too Powerful for my 55 gallon. I had to buy the next one down and decided to use this in my storage tanks to mix the water and keep circulation. No unexpected events so far, both powerheads have been running non stop with no issues. My only gripe about this product, it would be nice to have the option to lower the flow without having to cycle the power all the way up to tsunami before lowering back down. The knob on the bottom is only used for on/off time between waves, would be better suited as the single push button with the adjustable knob to control the speed. This is just a hassle to me though as I used an overpowered head and needed to quickly get it to minimum flow while trying not to blow sand out of my aquarium.

Just put one pp8 on my 125g freshwater cichlid tank. Even though this pump is rated by jerboa for a 60g tank it’s still over powered for even a 125g. It’s actually just perfect Imop but many will find it way to strong. Even in low wave mode with slow cycle speed it is more then capable of lifting sand off the bottom 6’ across the tank and floating it all the way back to the other side. It’s not obsessive and likely helping remove the last few fine grains that washing didn’t catch. In high crest wave mode at max power I’m getting close to a 1-1/2” wave crest 1/2 way across the tank with a solid 3/4” at the other end 6’ away still. To me this seems to be the best setting with the frequency speed intervals maxed up to what seems to be 2seconds on 2 seconds off. This is still lifting sand 6’ away but it’s not a steady flow so it’s able to resettle and not over clouding the tank. My substrate is super clean to start as I already have two other wavemakers as well as 3 canister filters provinging more then 20x flow circulation rate for the tank.. however this single addition has managed to find unseen detritus and is now helping suspend it till it finds an intake. I have to say this is the single best item I’ve ever put on this tank and I’m running 3 fx6 canisters on it lol. There is more then enough flow and circulation I’d fee perfectly fine if I reduced filtration to a simple hob with 2 of these pumps and just replaced poly fill every few days to remove nutrients. (Like emptying a skimmer cup on a saltwater setup) I’d likely have way less maintenance and much lower nitrates. (This is actually the direction I’m heading and why I got this pump and soon as I’m done writing this going to buy another one)I will say if you are looking at this for a softy coral tank.. this is spot on for a 6’ tank. If you’ve got sps then you might want to consider the pp15 but I will tell you wo a doubt the pp20 would tear any tank apart unless it’s bare bottom. The pp8 is rated to 2100ish gph on max and I can say that is way under rated. My best guess based on my other pumps and their flows is even the mid range pp8 is giving me around 6000gph flow on high setting when I use the normal steady directional flow and what I would rate as a solid 4000 in w1 high wave mode which also seems to be very similar to the C mode setting. In C you get less wave crest but appears to be about the same flow based on how particles are moving around the tank.End of the day.. I’m just opened this one up about 1 hour ago and already buying another as it does exactly what I wanted for this tank. I’m even going to purchase a few smaller ones for other freshwater tanks I have around the house and list my old sunsun pumps for sale on swipswap if I don’t put them somewhere else.. all in all you will not be dispointed with performance. Can’t soeak to longevity yet however that will come later but being in freshwater for now I’d expect it to last forever. Based on what I’ve learned with my short time with this unit I will be buying them to put on my 210g saltwater system when I get the tank back in action as well. I think at max setting with high wave (w1) mode on fast cycle this is perfect for a tall and long tank with mixed corals. Granted I’ll be putting one at each end and using the random flow setting wo linking the units together to keep random flow. If I had to give this one knock.. it would be that when in slave the two pumps operate at same flows.. to me this makes zero sense.. ideally your want them powering together but using different flows at different times to keep a perfectly clean tank. One in high wave while the other is in low.. or one in constant flow while one is in simulated current etc.. once in slave they work identical and that’s a knock although on a freshwater tank not as big a deal as salt and you can always turn one one for an hour or two in random mode then turn on the other which will give the wanted results. One last thing... these are not overly sensitive to water level.. they won’t cavitate and suck in air until they are about 1” from water level. Way better then many pumps. This will allow optimum hieght for proper gyre circulation in the water column wo leaving a surface scum dead spot like many others that need to be several inches below the surface. If considering between this and they hydro go with this.. the hydro are over rated in flow and are very sensitive to how high they are in the water column. I would put this against an map series pump any day for performance with the only downside being the power wire is still water side not magnet side.. speaking of... these magnets are stupid strong. They ship them with a spacer cause you can’t seperate them otherwise. My 125g is 7/16” glass but I wouldn’t hesitate to put this on a very thick acrilic tank. I’d bet it will hold better then most do on 12mm glass on 3/4” acrylic.

I have been running 2 Tunze 6045 powerheads in my 150 for years. During that time, they have been a PIA to maintain and keep running. The impellers constantly lock up and the steel shaft they they spin on just sucks. Recently I had one fail for good when the steel shaft finally broke in half and left part of the shaft in the powerhead itself that I could not get out. Needles to say, it was done.I decided to buy another one and when I saw the price, I had sticker shock (again). While on the Amazon page, I saw other options and one of the was this Jebao PP-8 WavemakerPowerhead with Controller. The price was only $54.98. I was thinking this was probably cheap junk from china but after reading the reviews, they sounded okay.I decided to buy two PP-8 models and one PP-20 ($75.99) model. I received them in a couple of days and I am blown away. The quality of the construction is great. The design of the impeller is way better than the Tunze and it has a super variable controller that can change the speed, timing, and period of the impeller. The impeller design is what I am most excited about. There is not rod running through the impeller to get corroded or have junk build up on. The impeller is part of ceramic shaft that rides in two ceramic receptacles on each end. Lots easier to clean and maintain. The powerhead itself is so nice. Easy to take apart, all joints have rubber mounts. These things are so cool and so cheap. Programming the controller is super easy. I have my set for sinusoidal wave patterns at about 80% power. My tank has crazy water flow.

Llevo ya dos meses con ellas, simplemente lo que se espera de un generador de olas, para ser chino es bastante eficaz

I bought two of the Jebao PP-8 Wavemakers for my well established 67 gallon reef tank. For the 3 years prior, I had been using two Hydor Koralia pumps with a Hydor Smart Wave controller to create alternating currents for my reef tank. The Hydor pumps & controller configuration was a decent setup, but it will only run for 6 hours (max) at a time, then it needs manual intervention. The pumps were also notorious for periodically “clicking” when starting up, since the controller pulses the power, which often caused fish to react and dart for cover. The “clicking” became more frequent as the pumps aged, so not wanting to stress out my thriving fish community, I decided to replace the Hydor Smart Wave controller and pumps.Using two Jebao PP-8 Wavemakers in a master/slave configuration provided a similar setup, but with more flexibility and options. I place the pumps on opposite ends at the top of the back my reef aquarium, both pointing forward and slightly inward (toward the center). The pair of PP-8 pumps are more than adequate for my size tank and provide a very good flow at their midpoint setting (around 3-4 on the intensity), so that is my default setting day to day. The wireless pairing of the units (master/slave modes) has worked consistently for me, though any power blips will often require pairing and programming the units again. Since the units are linked, it makes it much easier to adjust the flow up or down periodically and create different types of wave action by changing the frequency as well. Unlike the Hydor setup, these pumps are silent and smooth, so my residents are not stressed by mechanical noises any more. I use (and really like) the night setting, which turns off the pumps when the room is dark and the reef is sleeping (I still have very slow circulation pumps running all the time, but no turbulence). This setup has been running reliably non-stop in my 67 gallon reef tank for over 8 months now, without missing a beat. If you are looking for a reliable product to help you simulate wave action and adjustable flow, I highly recommend this product.
