5 for the distribution tool, 3 for the tamper.The distribution tool works great for what it is. While I prefer another type that has a magnetic stand, this one's storage container is perfectly acceptable. It just works for breaking up clumps and creating a consistent bed of grounds.Being a person that appreciates engineering controls for repeatable processes, I really wanted to like the tamper. The ability to dial it in and have repeatable results would eliminate variability in my tamping process, controlling another variable for me while homing in on a great pull. I say could, because the tamper doesn't work with my 51mm baskets. My baskets have a slight taper to them after the fill line, so this tamper bottoms out on the basket wall before it reaches the point where the spring engages. While this is an issue on my side, I have another 51mm tamper that doesn't have this issue.Nice tools, they just don't fit my case nor preference.

I have an espresso machine and I just didn’t have an easy way to tamper down the coffee itself. This works great! Makes the process faster and gives me more control, I also like the other item you can move to break up the grounds and it works great.

I gave this item a 5 star because it appears to be well made and robust, however, due to my error in not measuring my filters, this unit is to wide/large to fit my equipment. I probably have a 51 mm filter and the tamper is 58mm. I will see if I can send it back, but if not, it was not that costly an item.
