I loved the look of this pepper, spice, or herb grinder... And loved the way it would still fit into the top rack of my spice and herb rack... I bought a total of six of these, for spices, I am having trouble obtaining in a crushed state. I found the first two grinders locally, looking to replace my worn out pepper mill, and to hopefully crush milk thistle seeds I purchased in bulk to sprinkle on my dogs homemade food.. But it did not work well on the milk thistle seeds, so I had to abandon that idea... And then when I could not find more of the same grinders locally, I looked to Amazon to help me out.. And they had them. I wanted them to match, being my spice rack is exposed in my kitchen. I was having trouble with finding crushed rosemary or spices and herbs in general since this pandemic.. And I hated having the larger stemy pieces of Rosemary, Fennel, and Thyme in my dishes, and these are tough to smash in a mortar & pestle, or chop these without them flying all over the place. I also had a seafood seasoning blend that I use a lot, and wanted to have it in an electric grinder as well, for one hand operation, and the quicker grinding of this blend. I also had started to use black cumin seeds for it's health benefits, and wanted them in a grinder as well. And this grinder work well for them.. I love the fact that my herbs, and spices are in my dishes now, and you don't get shocked by a chunk, stem, or seed of flavor.. I also believe, it is releasing more flavor into my dishes being freshly ground.. And everything seems to come out at a good rate... The filling is not bad with a plastic funnel, you just have to shake the base of the grinder a bit to get the most product in them... I love everything about these grinders.. Except I have had to push the batteries back into place a couple of times, when they are not functioning.. There is a plastic band that wraps around the outside of the batteries to hold them in place, but for some reason it doesn't hold them well enough... I think the battery compartment should have been a snugger fit for the batteries... And done away with the plastic band... Possibly a little heavy rubber band like comes on the watercress or other veggies might work better for awhile, than the open plastic rings.. I would say the designer needs to fix this issue, and send out the fix to the owners of these grinders.. The only thing I wish I had done differently. Was maybe have waited until I found ones I liked that were rechargeable. The only draw back I saw to the rechargeable ones, was if they ran out of juice when you were using them, making you have to wait to recharge before you could deploy the contents again. That was why I purchased the second batch of the same grinders.. But with the battery compartment issue with these.. It has made me rethink my choice.. I loved the clean look also, and was why I went ahead with this purchase . Even with it's occasional battery issue, I would still recommend these, for people who really enjoy cooking...

The first step in the little brochure that comes with the grinder states "twist the grinder counter-clockwise". Well we twisted and turned and nothing happened so we twisted the grinder clockwise and it popped open.I had the aromatic Kirkland whole pepper that comes from Viet Nam ready to use. So forget battery powered pepper grinds with lights, I'll stick with good old fashioned pepper grinders.

Peugeot—yes, the French car company—supposedly makes the best electric peppermills in the world. It’s the Ferrari of peppermills (ha!). As serious cooking enthusiasts, my wife and I have used one for years, and it lives up to its hype.At first glance, this Kamenstein electric peppermill is a dead ringer for the Peugeot, although it’s about an inch taller. The stainless steel body is elegant and attractive, and should fit in well with any kitchen décor. While the Peugeot uses a capacitance circuit with no moving parts to turn the motor on when it senses a fingertip touching its top, the Kamenstein has an actual button. Still, it has the same major advantage as its French counterpart, which is one-handed operation. The grinding performance is on a par with other mills that we’ve tried. Despite the assertion of another reviewer, there IS an adjustment knob on the bottom that changes the coarseness of the grind. The LED light is inclined slightly in order to throw its bright white beam directly on the food to be seasoned, provided that you pay attention to how you grab the grinder and hold it at a bit of an off-vertical angle. The Kamenstein’s innards differ vastly from the Peugeot’s, and not in a good way. It’s fussy to take apart, fussy to insert the four AA batteries and especially fussy to put back together. When I first reassembled it after I installed the batteries, the motor kept starting as soon as I put the top housing on. It turns out that you have to install the internal mechanism first, and THEN slide the housing on; the Peugeot is exactly the opposite. That’s as good a reason as any to RTFM.A big plus for this peppermill is that it’s just as attractive and functional as the reigning Ferrari of the breed, and grinds pepper as well, but only costs about a fifth as much. At its current price, it’s a great deal and definitely worth a five-star rating for value.
