I purchased this laptop stand because my high-performance laptop runs hot and I use it on my lap. I was attracted by the opening in the middle of the panel that comes in contact with the laptop, thinking it would be a good way to get more air on the bottom of the laptop. I didn't want to use a USB fan-cooled support because I didn't want to use up a USB outlet. I use both USB outlets for mic and camera.Unfortunately, it is a badly designed device for my purpose. It is recommended in the ad as being good for up to a 17-inch screen laptop. I would not recommend it for any 14 inch or higher laptop. The problem is, when you try to pick it up from your lap or a flat surface, you are grabbing the laptop and not the stand so it's awkward to pick up. I expected it to be wider but I guess I should have read the dimensions and anticipated the problem. I think the 17-inch claim should be removed.Another problem is with the flip up holder that keeps the laptop from sliding down. It is too high and it keeps rubbing against my palms in a very uncomfortable way. It is enough of a nuisance that it would be a second reason I would not purchase it again if I had it to do over.
