Works well on 2010 Toyota Matrix with $15 programming device plugged into OBD port. Saved hundreds compared to dealers and programming people.

We had two transponder keys cut for our 2005 Toyota Sequoia at a local locksmith for $10 total. This is the procedure we used to program our keys on 12-31-2024. There are lots of suggestions on the way to do it, and this is what worked for us.Delete Keys:When we began, we deleted all keys except for the one used for the deletion procedure. One of our keys got lost in a school parking lot so we wanted to delete it from the vehicle. It is said that the vehicle memory can store 4 Master keys and 2 Valet keys. We now have 4 programmed Master keys and 0 Valet keys.1) Close all doors2) Insert your Master key (black) into the key cylinder3) Turn the ignition from LOCK to ON 6 times within 15 seconds - on the 6th time, leave the key in the LOCK position4) Open and close the driver's door 7 times within 20 seconds5) Remove the Master key6) Open then Close the driver's door to end the processAdd Keys:1) Close all doors2) Insert your Master key (black) into the key cylinder3) Turn the ignition from LOCK to ON 5 times within 15 seconds - on the 5th time, leave the key in the LOCK position (Others have suggested leaving it in ON but that did not work for us.)4) Open and close the driver's door 6 times within 20 seconds5) Remove the Master key6) Insert the new blank key and turn to ON position7) Leave in ON position for at least 60 seconds (Our Immobilizer light did not blink during registration mode, nor did it turn on or give us any indication when a key registered. We left each key in for 120 seconds and all keys worked.)8) After 60+ seconds, remove the key9) Open then Close the driver's door to end the process10) Test the key to make sure it works. One of our keys hesitated to start the vehicle and it did not start. We started the vehicle with the Master key and then again with the new key and it has worked multiple times since then.

Didn’t want to get ripped off by the shop to get duplicate security keys for my car.Got the right security key blanks and you can self program these keys in your own Toyota - depending on the model the method may differ.Saved myself $60 per key!

Both keys work but I had a heck of a time trying to find a place to get the keys cut.None of the big box stores would touch them (Walmart and Home Depot) ... they started making up stuff like "its illegal". I contacted a lock smith and he wanted $130 a key to cut them (????) and that was without programming them.In the final analysis I got them cut at a shoemakers shop .It took him a couple of tries to get it just right (I think he was bing overly cautious) but they work perfectly (he charged $5 per key).As for programming the keys, that wasn't an issue. The instructions are easy to find on the internet (steps like ... open door, close door, try key remove key etc etc etc). Both keys programmed on the first attempt.
