I am reluctant to give reviews on an item I have just started using, in case it soon fails, but here goes, for the sake of those shopping. First of all, when it says 30' long, they mean the cable length if not coiled. In coiled form it is about 6' long and you might use it stretched to 10'. I'm thinking it would 'pull back' going beyond that distance, and it is a cable that has actual weight. It could be cumbersome to a standing player, I don't know. I play only seated and reclined such that there is no pull on the cable, so none of the above is of concern to me personally. What I am seeking is a cable that won't fail. I have gone through many cables over the years, all failing at one end or the other, where the connections to the actual 1/4" jack are. I started re-soldering cables once I got an iron, most only last a year until needing done again, all kinds of static creeping in if not outright signal loss. Tired of this exercise I sought out a heavy duty cable, if such existed - whether or not the commonly found solder joint RCA jacks will prove to be as heavy duty as the cable itself remains to be seen. This cable has a wire gauge one size up from the rest of the best, including Fender's pricey purple Hendrix cable. I assume the shielding is similarly oversized given the overall girth of this beast. I have included a photo of two of my original 1970's era cables, the one in the middle the heaviest I had owned until now, an amp to speaker cable. The other is my better guitar cable. There is really no comparison with this purple cable, it is much larger, measuring ~0.325" in diameter in my calipers. It resembles the hose used for water lines to refrigerators. I'd suggest the green cable if this one sounds too big.

This is a coil cord on steroids! X-cellent, dude! Jumbo-sized coils--about 2X as big as a standard coil. Heavy-duty thickness + weightier than average. But i like it. My picky guitar-playing boyfriend looked at the construction + the solder connections + pronounced it "Very good quality." That's good enough for me. It makes smooth, clean, noiseless connections. No crackles. The only weird hum to be heard is my playing. I expect this sucker to last + work for years which is great for this X-cellent price. U can pay more but probably not get anything better. The purple color rocks. Cool looking. My bass is happy with this heavy-weight cord. If you're tired of cords getting crackly, noisy + becoming unreliable after alot of use + abuse, this may be the right cord for you. And i think this will look good on-stage too. Something different. Jumbo coil from planet X!

I bought this cable based on the positive reviews, and the really good value in terms of cost. Not disappointed at all. I have an Ernie Ball 30' coiled cable which was almost double the price and they have identical performance. If anything this Kirlin cable feels more solid and well constructed. It is quite heavy, which isn't a negative, and the purple colour, although translucent, comes across as a bit darker than the product photos which is nice.
