A great choice for sourdough!There are several versions of this type of product out there. This one seems to be better than the others. Some get too hot, this one does not, which makes it a much better product.Having a dough proofing bowl that can also warm your dough is a great idea. It gives you a higher rise and a better quality loaf. It's also easy to use.

I love this little warming bowl. I really appreciate that this bowl is fully collapsible and hardly takes up space in my baking drawer. It also works perfectly to keep my dough warm and speed up bulk fermentation and proofing. Overall, a great addition to my sourdough tool kit.

This is a great sourdough starter kit, and the silicon heated basket is luxurious; but I wish it had a sourdough starter jar.CLEANING: The basket it easy to rinse off and use again. All the tools are easy to clean. However, I wish the basket was not the same color as my dough because it is hard to tell if it is clean or not when you can't see what is dough and what is the basket.DURABILITY: The tools are all good quality and durable. The wood is a cute touch, but don't leave it to soak in water or the wood might rot away after a few years.THOUGHTS: the price is good for getting a silicon basket but I wish they added a sourdough started jar. Sourdough starter jars are really important to make good sourdough bread and as a kit, it should include it.USING THE KIT:Step one: When I make a loaf of sourdough bread I start by mixing ingredients in the heated basket using the dough whisk. The dough whisk works wonders in handling dough without getting messy hands.Step two: I plug in the basket and let it sit to rise. The basket has different heat settings; i use blue, which gets the dough warm without cooking the bottom.Step Three: I use the bench knife to cut the dough and shape it and put it into the pan.Step Four: There is a sharp tool to score your bread and make pretty patterns, and a brush to put an egg wash, water, butter, or some other thing to make the crust tasty.And that is what the kit does!

I’ve been baking sourdough for years. I don’t claim to be good at it, but I usually can turn out a decent tasting loaf. Winter always adds an extra challenge to the process with the cooler temperatures in the house. This little bowl solves that by providing an even proofing temperature. The control system is super easy with four different preset temperature settings, each indicated by a different color light. Changing the temp is as simple as a press of a button. The silicon lid rests gently on the rim of the bowl to keep your dough from getting a dried surface while proofing. You are limited to the round boule shape of the bowl for your loaf, but with the interior ridges of the bowl it gives you a pretty look like it was proofed in a fancy banneton. It comes with a nice bench scraper, silicon pastry brush, lame and a dough whisk. All good tools to get you started. I do wish the dough whisk had a longer handle. A longer handle gives you a little more leverage when mixing stiff dough. I love that the bowl collapses down for storage. In the manual it suggests using the bowl for thawing meats or a warming bowl for pet food or water. They show keeping water for chickens from freezing. Although it’s great to have a multifunctional tool, I don’t think I’d use it for bread after using it for the chickens, lol. I do use it for heating fondant to soften it before rolling since I don’t have a microwave to do it in. With this bowl I can just break off the amount I need and throw the rest of the lump back into the bowl to stay warm and soft till I need it. I guess if I had to change anything about it, I would prefer just a regular outlet plug instead of the USB, but this isn’t a big deal. I have a dedicated USB plug for it that stays with the bowl.
