i had decided to replace my junky toolbox tools with good ones, and Knipex is the best of the lot. these pliers replace my crummy drop forged slip joint pliers that have pinched my fingers and scarred soft metals for the last time. the Knipex handle is comfortable, there is no sideways slip in the joint, the wire cut is clean, and the design facilitates leverage. the finish on this tool is pristine and the price is very reasonable. so it's your choice -- live with dime store tools a little longer; put up with overpriced, stiff jointed, wobbly blue handled nightmares; or upgrade to these Knipex. better sooner than later.

Another flawless pair of Knipex pliers. I picked these up to hold parts/stock while using a stationary belt sander or bench grinder at work. Sometimes what I'm working on will be too small to hold securely, or it will get too hot from the friction to hold by hand. These will work perfectly. They have a portion of the jaws to hold round/square/hex/octal material, and a substantial enough flat section at the tip to hold flat material. These are the perfect size for my needs. I sometimes travel for work so I like to keep my tool kit under 50 pounds, I saved valuable weight by going with the smaller size, and they still fit comfortably in my massive hands. In case you don't already know, Knipex is the new standard for premium pliers. The steel is very hard yet tough, the jaws are precision machined and aligned, and their designs are consistently more effective than the ubiquitous plier designs at the hardware store that everyone is used to seeing. Buy a pair of these and give your slip-joint pliers to your nephew. If you don't have a nephew, give them to goodwill. You won't regret it.Edit: To the two reviewers giving this a three star rating because the handle doesn't have Knipex printed on it, give me a break. What a ridiculous reason to lower your rating. If you actually used your tools, you would know the print always wears off of Knipex plastic dipped handles anyway.
