I really like these cutters. Cuts through small diameter cable like nothing. The only drawback that I found is that the handles open very wide thus making it difficult or awkward for people with smaller hands to use. I don't have that issue.Overall, a great tool at a very good price.

I'll tell you these snips will cut the thin wire cable like nothing else I tried. The cut is clean leaving no frayed strands. I had a heck of a time cutting this wire previously.

I purchased these based on the good reputation of Knipex tools. I wasn't looking to buy these initially but after seeing the same tool in professional bike mechanic tool kits I figured there was something about these that were great. I already had a set of wire cable cutters from a bike tool brand but they are quite old and although they were functioning well I decided to give them away to a friend so I can upgrade my toolbox. The main thing I use these for is cutting cables on bicycles, this can be the shifter cable, shifter housing or brake hose. I have tried this on all of the above and it passes with flying colours. No issues with flattening the cut end of the cable, it gives a really clean cut and keeps it nice and round so that it can function properly. I am sure there are many other applications for these, I have used them on electrical wiring and it seems to work well and once again keeps the end from flattening out. Definitely more important on multi strand cable as opposed to solid core cable. My only complaint is that it opens quite wide and people with smaller hands may find this difficult to use. I have Medium size hands and these work fine for me but something to consider if you have smaller hands. My previous cutters were similar to this in that it opened really wide.I am hoping the Knipex quality will mean that these will last me a long time. I am not a pro by any means so I won't be putting hundreds of cuts on these in a year. Would be curious to see how well they hold up in a shop environment. As for price they are a bit more expensive than other comparable items out there. The bike specific tool companies are almost on par for price so for me to get something a little different from a highly reputable tool manufacturer like Knipex I don't mind paying a few extra dollars.
