I was kind of bummed to see that the tip was bent when I pulled it out.But seriously, the packaging is simply a bubble wrap bag. Given that this is a precision tool, it is prone to getting banged up in shipping. Yes, I can probably bend it in place. It can probably even work in this condition. But not wanting to risk snapping the tips off, and the fact that I spent $29 for a German tool vs $6 for a Chinese one, I want something that doesn't require modification.For my application, I am using it to remove the C clips from RS2205 motors and these will work perfectly for them. As others said, the set screw is a nice touch and can be adjusted to limit the opening width, so my GI Joe kung fu grip won't over extend the C clips. The tips do not look brittle and the handles are a good length. It is light enough that when using the finger tips of one hand is comfortable, while the other is holding the motor.Feedback to the manufacturer or supplier is that this should come with a protective plastic cone over the tip. I'm returning/exchanging it and will up my star rating if it works out.Update 8/6/2018: Got the replacement the next day (thanks, Amazon!). After taking apart 8 motors, I found that this greatly reduced my tear down and assembly time. Upping my rating from 2 stars to 4.

Just what I needed to for some 4mm c clips. Ended up mangling a few c clips trying to use micro needle nose pliers. Nice quality and the stop screw is great so you don't over extend and ruin your c clips.

I highly recommend this Knipex retaining clip remover/installer to those looking for a tool for their small outrunners! I scoured the RC pages to look at the tools people were using but none had the fine needle nose I needed. I came across this Knipex circlip remover with a bit of luck. The needle nose is chrome vanadium which is plenty strong for small circlips. Just dont drop them on the floor. ;-) The adjustment screw on the tool is a great feature to prevent over-expansion of the clip. This tool made it really easy to service my 4014 400KV motors and I am very glad to have owned a pair. It is hard to gauge the actual size of the needle without more detail, so I've attached a couple of pictures to help. A 4014 400KV motor and a ballpoint pen are also shown in the pictures. If half the tip of a ballpoint pen fits between the circlip prongs, this tool could work for you.

Excellent quality with a clever stop adjustment so that you don't over stress the circlip through over expansion.I build FPV racing quadcopters and many of the brushless motors used incorporate circlips on their main shafts. If you are to regularly maintenance these motors, you must successfully remove these clips without loosing or damaging them. This tool allows just that. Since I received them, I haven't lost or damaged a clip yet. They make brushless motor maintenance a quick and reliable operation.

The first one that came had one of it's tips bent the wrong way so I sent in back and received one that's okay. The tip is not as compact and precise as pictured. This is supposed to be a high quality German tool! We'll see how it holds up.
