I have only used a couple times as these replace a similar pair that got holes through the ‘vinyl?’ part from her nails ( when putting them on). Tried the balloon type ones once and they were awkward and too tight for her..maybe I got wrong size that time? Regardless, you need to file or at least be careful of your dogs nails when putting them or most booties on...it’s an awkward process and that is how we ripped holes in our last ones...my duct tape repair only lasted so long...We use these for our neighborhood walks when the roads have been salted. She is very sensitive with and it is very helpful from the salt. They can be slippery on ice as she has looked cartoonish when she gets on a patch, but then again, I have to be very careful then too. The stocking part is thick. The Velcro can be snapped off. But I love it so far because I think it is keeping them on her. I unsnap ( they’re attached) and adjust to where on her foot I want it to go. The sock goes to above her joint and I strap it right below the joint. Her old pair tended to come off as they aged and maybe the elastic wasn’t as tight. But I think this Velcro strap will do the trick once these age some.

The velcro straps actually help keep the boots on! I’ve gone through many variations of boots in my hunt for a decent set. These are it!

I got these boots for my 45 pound pitbull who has a bad hip. She often drags one of her feet while at a brisk walking pace and wears down her paw pads and nails easily. These boots are great for light protection, a walk around the block. We went to a park, and walked a paved sidewalk for about an hour. Her nails had ripped through the bottom and one of the boots was already ruined. Luckily, she only needs them on the back, so these were two pairs for her. I just can't use them how I really wanted/needed to or they will wear through and break. Unfortunately, they will not last more than one park visit if you have an active dog, somewhat larger, with anysowhat bigger nails. They were very comfortable for my dog and fit very well. The double velcro straps and longer socks make these boots fit very well and stay secure on the dogs feet.

I was worried about purchasing these after reading through the reviews. I had also been burned twice before on here ordering boots for my 61lb GSD mix and receiving boots made for a Chihuahua —even after taking the time to make sure I was measuring my dog’s paw properly and comparing it to the size guide.These are perfect because my muffin’s back legs are skinnier than her fronts so I usually end up having to buy two different sizes with shoes/boots etc.It’s basically a glorified “over the knee” sock with a rubber coating on the end. I love the over the knee concept because it keeps her paw in the boot and I don’t have to worry about her walking out of them. This also helps with her back legs being skinner as well. Even better still, then come with these snap on velcro straps to more accurately secure the boot around your dog’s leg.I used them to take her for a 3 mile walk through Brooklyn, NY to protect her feet from city germs. I was shocked to find that they not only stayed on but that they functioned as advertised as well.When I got home I unsnapped the straps and threw them in the wash. I was even more surprised that they came out looking brand new and did not fall apart. The only con is that they are a little difficult to put on because the sock part is form fitting. My princess is a good girl and allowed me to get them on no problem but if your dog is not as patient it might be a little harder. Overall though still doesn’t effect my rating, 10/10 would recommend, these were such a pleasant surprise!
