I originally bought this to quickly boil water for coffee/tea in the mornings after ditching my electric water heater. Set on the small gas burner on the highest setting boils water super fast, mind you, I only fill to about 2 or 3 cups. The spout pours perfectly, no drips, splatters or leaks. The silicone handles stay cool to the touch regardless of how hard it boils.It's great for immersion blending, especially small batches of soup. The slender design makes all the difference. I often don't even bother with the steamer basket when steaming vegetables or boiling asparagus or corn since there's holes in the lid to drain the water. You do have to be careful to clean this with only a sponge and not a scour pad. I started cleaning the outside on one spot with a scour pad and it did scuff it.. I would have liked a sound/whistle to let you know it's boiling since I use it often as a kettle, so have to be mindful of that, but overall a truly awesome pot!I have received so many compliments on just the look of this pot alone from family and friends. I'm considering purchasing the 6 cup when it becomes available, but so far, this does what the 6 cup does and more so I'm very happy. If you're on the fence, purchase it, you won't be disappointed.

This tall narrow heavy base 12 cup pot fits nicely on the 4th (smallest) burner at 16cm across and 20cm high great for corn cobs asparagus and long veg it's really great for soups as the height means less spill when using a stick blender it's even good for pasta. This is one very useful pot

Ideal for steaming veg, potatoes and cooking pasta. Also muscles. Deceptively large capacity.Uses hardly any water for the steaming, keeping the weight down if you need to move it or drain. Locking lid makes draining very easy and saves washing up a colander. For pasta or boiled potatoes you can gently lift cage from the water and put on a plate to save carrying the whole lot to the sink if you can't lift that much weight. Very good if you have bad back or weak arms or hands.The silicone on the cage handle is quite small and hard to grab if there's a lot of steam around. Also it is hard to tip up the cage to empty the contents when it's hot. I use everyday forks to grab the handle or prong in the bottom the cage and tip it whilst holding the handle with the other hand. Works fine then.

Product quality is good with useful features. Mostly though it is a fun cooking option. It really can be left on the stove without taking much space and it is handy for combining with larger diameter pots. It is shorter than most commercial spaghetti but it only takes a few seconds to soften so the complete strand falls in the pot. Getting out the big pot to cook pasta is not hard but not my favorite task so this pot bypasses that small annoyance. Plus it is more fun to use. For instance, if you like tempering the pasta with a bit of sauce, that is easily accomplished by tossing the cooked pasta with a few scoops of sauce in the pot - shaken, not stirred. A 13.25 oz. package of spaghetti cooks down to half the pot so plenty of room for shaking. There is also no bulky colander to wash and it is enjoyable having the option to drain with one hand, with the lid handle providing a two hand option. A family member tried giving me an asparagus pot once but it seemed so single purpose. That assumption was incorrect but the features on this pot present even more options. Plus, it is fun, fun, fun for pasta, boiled eggs, blanched vegs, brown rice, cowboy coffee, etc., etc.

I already owned one of these great cooking pots & knowing just how good they are, I decided to have another one. I put all of the vegetables in there & once the water has come to the boil, I turn the heat to a gentle simmer. I save on gas & the things cook in a few minutes. I did however, ignore the instructions about having the straining holes over the pouring spout because I found the water bubbled out over the hob. I tried it by moving the lid around & hey presto, problem solved.Best cooking pots I've got & so very useful with the basket to lift out & the two lots of different sized straining holes.
