When I ordered this, I guess I wasn't aware that this is only half of the components required. You need either the Launch scanner or you have to download an app, only available for Android phones.Seen as I do not have the Launch scanner nor do I have an Android phone, this TPMS service tool is really of no value or use to me the way it is.I will say that the service tool seems to be made very well and the idea behind it is very easy to use and useful.Until such time as I can use someone else's phone to download an app (that is not located on Google play, that might be sketchy, I don't know) I can't properly test this. I think that the seller needs to really emphasize that you need additional components in order to use this.

Extremely well made TPMS programing tool.It has a rubber coating just like most true automotive diagnostic tools. Won't slip with greasy hands. First off this tool must be paired with an Android phone or a scan tool. I paired it with my phone easily... Just scanned the code on the back of the tool, installed the app, done. There is a orange square on the end of the tool. That must be around the valve stem for this to work. The battery on your TPMS valve must be good as well. It will not recognize a valve stem with a dead battery. I tried it on my 2011 Tahoe... And couldn't get it to recognize and valve. Obviously dead batteries because I tried it on my Husband's 2017 van and it recognized them immediately. Mind you at first it did not, lol but my husband knocked off a hubcap in the fall and hasn't bothered putting it back on, and the tool recognized that valve in seconds because I was able to put the square opening Around the valve where as I could not with the hubcaps on. Lol so I had him remove the other 3 hubcaps and it registered them immediately as well. So the tool works well but the batteries must be good in the stem and you must be able to put the tool around the valve stem for it to work. I hope this helps in your decision making. Oh, lol and my husband now has all 4 hubcaps back on his truck

The device alone is only half the system of course, you can pair it either with an X-431 scanner, or a phone app: i-TPMS which you can download by scanning the barcode on the back of the device. Note - the phone app supports fewer features than the X-431 scanner. It's compatible with all 315/433 MHz sensors, which covers the vast majority of vehicles sold. The tool is quite lightweight - plastic build but reasonably robust and with nice big buttons so you can easily manage it with gloves. It's a rechargeable unit and mine arrived with no charge at all which is unusual. At this point I noted that the USB-C charging port is non-spec - it doesn't support proper USB-C cables - you need to use a cheap USB-A to USB-C cable. Annoying that they cheaped out here - meant I wasted an hour trying to charge it before swapping cables. In the meantime I scanned the QR code to download the phone app. Note you will need to have your phone settings to allow you to install apps from places other than Google Play - this is easily done and I won't go into it here.Once the app is installed you can easily connect it to the device. Note - when it scans for the device it shows up as a faded red box with the Serial Number. This looks like it's disabled, but it's not. You need to click it and hit OK. The hand-held unit during this time displays nothing to indicate it is being connected - in fact the unit doesn't really do anything until you start to use it via the app.Through the app you select the vehicle make, model and year and then you can work through the sensors using the keypad on the device. You can read the existing sensors and derive some information from them - more functionality here is available through the X-431. Through the mobile app you can1) Replace the sensor2) Activate a sensor3) Program the Sensor ID4) Query the OE part number5) Generate tire pressure detection reportsI can't fault the tool, and the price-point is typical of this kind of professional instrument.
