These are heavy pieces that look great and are just the right size. Being thicker they are also easier to handle when hot food is placed in them. For me they were worth the price knowing they would last.

Finally - a dish especially suited to pasta that retains heat from start to finish when dining. (Dish pre-heated in oven at 150-200F is ideal).Visual appearance of dish is excellent, especially when under-plating with a white dish (such as Corian).Price for four dishes is appreciable, but the plates accomplish the underlying intent - retaining heat. No other dish, insulating matt, tile piece, or combination of, tried previously could accomplish the retain-heat objective without becoming far too complicated and clumsy.Value, as value always is, it is a two-edge sword. Often, but not always, "you get what you pay for!" These are worth it. They should last forever.Physical weight might be considered a negative aspect. Stacked in a kitchen cabinet the weight is substantial and requires a firm grip to remove one plate at a time... ill-advised for someone with weak hands or arthritic fingers. Cerise color as ordered elegantly presents the pasta within.

I am a fan of everything Le Creuset and these dishes did not disappoint. I use them like I would use a small dinner plate or sandwich plate. They are shallow enough to use that way, but deep enough for pastas, risotto, salads, scrambled eggs and the like. I also bought the bigger ones, 9.5 in think, which I used to replace dinner plates. Great for saucey entrees, plenty of room for a protein and a side. I am contemplating ordering more of each so that I could use them for a dinner party or in case they stop making them.
