This is my first Lew's rod and first one piece as well. My only regret with this rod is not getting one sooner. The action is superb and it cast like a dream. Baitcasting can be a complicated affair and having a cheap rod only exacerbates the issues. I mounted a nice bait casting reel on the rod and promptly took to the water. I was amazed at the level of control this rod enables. I am now able to get my cast more precise and into the areas I want. The construction if first rate. All of the guides are perfectly aligned and securely fastened to the rod. The reel seat shows the same attention to detail and my reel locks on like it was made for this rod. I ordered the 7'3" rod in medium-heavy power and fast action. This is perfect for the bass fishing I do on local lakes. My buddy, who is an avid bass fisherman had nothing but great things to say about this rod. It's a bit on the expensive side compared to my other rods but outshines all of them with ease.

Become a Lews fan the past couple years but they have been spinning rods and reels. So this is my first Lews bait casting rod and I am not disappointed. I bought the 6'8" MH fast rod, and impressed with the smooth casting with great action. Currently have it paired it with a reel I already had and am looking for the right Lews reel to match it better than what I have. can't be happier with this purchase. Now I just need to find some bigger fish to give it a better try out.

Well, the packaging didn't help in the shipping part of this nice rod. It's a nice rod overall when it comes to workmanship as well as all the things that was supposed to make this rod really good. The grips are nice and the wrapping on the guides are very precise. They're glassed over well and there's no flaws in workmanship. Apparently during shipping, one of the guides, fifth from the tip, was bent and it cracked the epoxy that's where to foot of the guide is. I would have to repair this rod and finding this kind of guide will be a challenge. Overall, it's a good rod with a good taper and a solid base for a reel to be attached. I just have to try to fix this to make this rod usable.
