I used it to secure a connection for a double oven. #8 AWG for 220V @ 40 AMPS was required for the oven. Using a pliers to twist the wire tightly before inserting into connector, everything worked out very well. I'm not sure the connectors would have handled #6 AWG wire. For my application, it worked out very well, and I felt it was a much more secure and reliable connection than using wing twist wire connectors. As an ounce of prevention, I wrapped the connector in duct tape. 4 stars only because I'm unsure about using it for 6-gauge wire.

There is no way this is for #6. I tried it using all the tricks and it’s just too small to fit #6 wire

I've been using these wire connectors for a few DIY projects, and I'm really impressed. They're incredibly easy to use, even for a beginner like me. The connections are secure and reliable, and I love that they come with heat shrink tubing for added protection. The kit is great value for the money, and I'll definitely be buying more in the future.

Not only is the hole not 6 gauge, the entire width of the connector is not even 6 gauge!* And, not talking about the plastic shell around the connector, just the metal connector inside.I'll guess the hole to be 10 AWG accepting or smaller. On the positive side:- These are some really really nice connectors, if you do happen to be connecting a smaller wire or cable. I like their use of multiple connection points, versus other connectors employing only one hex screw, per side, to connect a wire or cable.- The complete elimination of having to heat shrink, using a snap together ABS plastic case, is a novel and very convenient idea --- IF --- things don't corrode, being exposed to the elements, through the vent holes, that is.- The metal part of the connector was high quality brass, that was obvious. And, the case was a high quality ABS plastic, very durable; all quality materials.I hope this company corrects its mistakes, and makes larger connectors, that are really 8, 6, 4, 2, and 0 AWG accepting. That would be some great products.
