The lamp is good, bright and fits well the Dewalt batteries. One really different feature from other lamps with a USB plug, is that this one does not drainthe battery if it is left on the lamp if you set to OFF the push button On/OFF switch(push button not visible on the advertisement pictures).On/Off push button really put the lamp to OFF (USB and lamp), the toggle swicth chooses Lamp intensity or USB plug only.Very bright (although probably not really 6000 lumens) and the 2 possible intensities are very practicalbecause sometime the max lighting is too bright when working close to it.

This light is very bright, more so than any of my fancy flashlights, which is to be expected with so many LEDs and a relatively powerful battery. The two position LOW-HIGH switch is a bit pointless; If HIGH is 100%, LOW seems to be 85%, meaning it is difficult to see much difference in the output of the two settings. This seems like part of the issue with the widely reported battery drain in OFF position. Seems like a mediocre design / implementation of the controls for a glorified flashlight. None of my flashlights have battery drain in the OFF position. The side effect of this defect is you can't leave light mounted to battery base, like any normal flashlight in standby mode for use.The swivel head is poor design / implementation too. My light was delivered with the swivel hinge (bolt, nut & washer) torqued down so much it was impossible to swivel head without breaking the plastic supporting clamp area. Loosening the bolt remedied this problem, only to reveal another - if the bolt is loosened enough to enable normal lamp head angle adjustment, it will not hold the position. It's either too tight or too loose, the difference being less than a quarter turn of the bolt/nut. I added washers and threadlocker to mine to fix this problem, but it's still not perfect. The bolt and nut are some second quality trash fasteners, as none of my SAE or metric Craftsman tools (or others) would fit the heads, and the nyloc nuts at the hardware store could not be threaded onto the bolt. This product is potentially 5-star excellent, however it's been significantly diminished by obvious cost-cutting decisions in the electronic controls and the lighthead clamp which greatly limits the capability to aim the light from it's battery base / stand. A light you can't easily point in the right direction is not so useful, regardless of it's output.I'm considering returning this one in the theory that I got a dud and it's replacement might be better.

The low voltage cutout works as it should to protect the battery from over discharging. I put in a Dewalt battery and left the light on to discharge it. When it shut off I tested the battery and it was about 15.7 volts. That's right about where Dewalt tools cut off. I removed the battery, put it back in (still drained) and the light ran for about 1 minute and shut off again. Enough to find your way out of the dark or grab another battery but still safe for the battery. The charging ports also cut off with the rest of the light. This light is very bright with a good spread of light. It'll light up the tops or tall trees but still give a wide "flood" type of spread that would be good to work by. Point it at the ceiling and it'll light up all the corners of a large room. This light is a great addition to my collection of Dewalt tools and batteries. It's nice to have a cheaper alternative to the expensive Dewalt 20v lights that do the same thing. I also like that this is small and lightweight. I haul my tools to jobsites so size and weight are important. This folds over into a small size I can easily fint into my tightly packed toolboxes.I haven't tested battery life but it seems reasonable so far. It's not that important to me since I have a lot of batteries in all capacities. I bought this to squeeze a little time out of the day as it's getting dark or push to finish a job rather than coming back for an hour the next day. I don't plan on running it for countless hours on one battery. It would be nice if there was more difference between the high and low. There is a difference but it's close. A lower low would be nice for small areas or to extend the battery life but it's not a deal breaker. The light gets pretty hot when running for a while. Not burning hot but hotter than other LED lights I've used. It's hot enough to make a nice handwarmer on a cold day. Not the most efficient light but not dangerous. A lot of energy going to heat. You're not going to get the best power management at this pricepoint. The battery stays cool though.Overall it's great for what it is and what it costs. If you're planning on regularly using it all day for work it may be better to get the more efficient Dewalt work light. If you just need it occasionally this is more than enough.

This device killed a fairly new, perfectly working 1.3 Ah Dewalt Battery. It was working perfectly fine in my DeWalt tools. I don't think there is enough protection built into this LED device. I was repairing a dryer and needed extra light. The light level was fine, but suddenly the battery died...which is normal for the 'cliff' that Li-Ion batteries have. Fine. But I have never been able to charge up this battery since. There is NO indication from the charger that any charging cycle is being undertaken. I've tried all three of my chargers. My Dewalt batteries will never go in this device again. The light unit gets surprisingly warm too...Update: Don’t throw out your batteries! You can jump start them similar to jumping a car. The video you see further down the page worked perfect for me. I used about a 20 gauge solid wire to do the connections. I left the battery connected for 6-7 seconds and then disconnected the wiring and then put the battery on the charger. Started charging right away and seemed to accept a full charge and has been working well. There doesn’t seem to be any long-lasting ill effects.Another update: {Thanks to those of you who mentioned that this light will kill the battery with the battery just connected to it and not turned on}. I went to the basement to check and sure enough I had left the battery on the light. Tried it on the charger, but no dice. I then had to do this boosting process a second time. I don't recall how long the battery was on the light, but a few weeks. This time I kept the wires connected for 10 seconds to another battery, unhooked the wires, put the battery on the charger and it immediately started to charge. So don't give up on your batteries!
